Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
I would've traded Tom Chambers, another 20 point scorer on another team (lets say Terry Cummins), the reigning six man of the year and a player who averaged 16/8 (Scola) for Thomas if Thomas was in his last year of his contract and was going to leave next year.
If NO was smart they would have traded Paul like Utah did Deron when he had two years left and before he could direct where he could go. Utah got a good haul for Deron because they didn't let it get to the situation we have with Paul.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
This is a quote from him after the Nuggets-Knicks trade:
"Oh it was hard, hardest thing I've ever had to do," Billups said. "I had to tell my girls that daddy was traded, that he was leaving to play across the country. I told them it wasn't my choice, that nothing could be done about it. I had to go. It wasn't a happy scene."
Basically, I think we all forget these players are actually human beings. You know, they have FEELINGS. EMOTIONS.Comment

Exactly. I love Paul but I suspect many people who say this is abad deal haven't really watched Scola, Odom or Pau play last year.Comment

I wouldn't want that either, but based on all these snippets and tweets people keep posting I'm starting to fear that may be the case.
I hope not, but whatever it is we will find out soon enough.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Well, the dude DOES have a family he had to leave behind in Denver, and he did say he wanted to finish his career there in his hometown.
This is a quote from him after the Nuggets-Knicks trade:
This is a guy who's had to move SEVEN times in his 15 year career. That's an average of moving every 2 years to a different city. Plus, he was just a throw in so the Knicks could get Melo - who, ironically, was going back to HIS hometown. I'm pretty sure he's fed up of just being forced to move where he really doesn't (and didn't) want to go. I mean, he could've decided to hang it up when he heard he was going to New York and totally prevent the Melo deal from going down, but he stayed professional so Melo could have the opportunity to experience what Chauncey was experiencing.
Basically, I think we all forget these players are actually human beings. You know, they have FEELINGS. EMOTIONS.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
But now that NO's may be getting a distraught Odom, I don't think that's smart.
Draft picks, two bigs and a scorer.. for player who is basically telling you that he's not going to re-sign in the summer.. pretty decent haul. In no way is it a bad deal, but I wouldn't call it a great deal either.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
If its both, I'm furious and I don't know why we need to make this deal. They got swept by the Mavs last year but there is no need to blow up the team. I love Paul but Paul/Kobe and no bigs doesn't put us any closer to a championship.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
I honestly think he wants to go back to Denver. Just read that he passed up a chance to play on Team USA because he promised his wife he'd be a stay-at-home dad over that summer. Also, the Denver execs. never wanted to actually trade Billups, they wanted him to finish his career at home as much as Billups actually wanted to.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Right, because Chauncey's the only dude to ever have experienced that.
You got a ring, a Finals MVP and an All Star appearance so if you want to retire then go right ahead because you're good. But spare me the BS about "Oh, if I go to such and such cities not named Miami, I'm going to be T.O 2.0"
If he wants to go back to Denver, then go back to Denver.#RespectTheCultureComment
