    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

I like Zeller, a legit 7 footer that plays with a high motor. Just don't know how well he's gonna do in the NBA, if he plays/progresses similar to his college days he could be a guy that gets close to 10/10 or something a season(maybe a few more points cause I do think he plays the game well for a big man).

Can't wait for the draft to get here already, have put it more research/time in this year then I have for most drafts(Kind of helps when I paid no attention to the NFL draft lol)

Same. The last two years I've really started researching for the NBA drafts.

Last year, I thought Tyler Honeycutt would be a good sleeper candidate... Hopefully I'm not as far off on anyone else this year lol.

It's not really Tyler's fault. With Demarcus being the scorer he is at the Center position he's automatically getting 20+ shots a game. Then the guards divy up the rest of the shots between them. Not to mention with Tyreke moving SF it just creates a massive backlog at that position.

You got: Terrence Williams, Francisco Garcia, Travis Outlaw, Tyreke Evans, Donte Greene (Who plays the strech 4 now), and John Salmons.

That's simply too many guys at that position. He simply went to the wrong team IMO.

Like I said, nitpicking something stupid(in this case)like his weight.

Again, that same quote you posted earlier regarding Drummond and the Dwight Howard/KG Comparisons(especially the latter)sounds exactly what folks here were saying about Davis yet you disregarded them.

I like Zellers game, he has an ok mid-range jumper and he can play with his back to the basket he also runs the floor very well and getting on a team that has a PG that can push the pace could benefit him. His shot blocking could use some work but he was never really asked to protect the paint that much at UNC so we don't really know if we have seen the best of that aspect. He is a decent rebounder that could benefit from gaining a little more muscle.

I've never really been a fan of Carolina Bigs(save for Jamison during his time in DC) in the Pros(same with dook), that's why I don't like Zeller.

If we knew what Ibaka would be 2 years in and didn't know anything about anyone else in this draft's 2 years in nba potential, you don't think Ibaka would go #1? Any particular reason bc I get the feeling you're just saying that to maintain your Davis argument.
While OKC is a very young gifted team Serge is the 4th best player. He's not a star not sure he'll ever get there. He's a great rim protector and PNR defender however he's a spotty post defender. He can finish around the cup and he's got a real nice shot out to 18-19 ft, however he's limited everywhere else on offense and can't manufacture his own shot.

I happen to really like this draft class. If I don't think Davis is top 5 why would I think Ibaka is? It's not me being stubborn it's me not thinking either has or will have that kind of impact on the league in comparison to some of the players that will be drafted this year.

Not weight strength. Two different things.

Who's disregarding anything. Can he get stronger ofcourse. Will he have to gain weight to do so most likely. Can he gain the weight while maintaining his explosiveness who knows, but it's something that I think like for most players will be an issues.

Howard was already heavier and stronger coming into the league than Davis and scouts were concern. Why is it completely asinine to have those same concerns about a guy who's lighter and weaker?

You are disregarding all the other reasons I have a problem with Davis as ever becoming a superstar in the league.

Another poster brought up Marcus Camby and KG, two other players who didn't even have the same build as Duhwight had when he came into the league and both of those guys didn't exactly bulk up over their careers in which one is a potential HOFer and the other was one of the best rebounders/defenders at his position in this decade.

Davis' frame won't be the issue why he struggles in the NBA.

All I know is I'd love to get him on the Nets to team him up with Lopez and hopefully Deron stays as well because that'll do wonders for Davis' career, in having him play with a proven and one of the best PGs in the game.
