Not sure about any of the Southern teams. You'd think the Panthers, but the owners have an amazing lease deal and collect all of the revenue generated by their arena, hockey or not.Comment

Re: Agreement for new Seattle arena reached
Tyreke isn't a great player. This year he's a 45% shooter (which is actually above his career average) and is only scoring 14.6/gm. Add only 3.6 apg, and not much of a 3 pt shot (a career high 30% this year) he is certainly not someone you build around.
As far as Cousins, he's a volume scorer. A Center under 43% shooting? That's terrible. The only C's in the league with a worse shooting % are Roy Hibbert and Andrea Bargnani. And at least with Hibbert, it's a down year.
On a good team, Evans is coming off the bench. He's not a guy you can build around. And Cousins is a starter, but not a star. He's not worth the headache. I say trade both.
I like Jason Thompson a lot. He's a very efficient player who can do some good things. But this team isn't exactly loaded with talent. Will still be thrilled to have them in Seattle though, if it happens.Comment

Re: Agreement for new Seattle arena reached
Not big on the NBA coming back. Maybe I'll come around, but these won't be the same Sonics. I grew up on Payton and Kemp, Detlef, Nate McMillan, Sam Perkins, etc... Then I got excited with the addition of Durant later on, and then bam...gone.
Some things just leave too deep of a wound. I'm happy for the folks who want another team, but I hate that another city is losing their team. Maybe I'll come around, but this just doesn't get me excited.Comment

Originally posted by Proof21As a Sacramento resident my entire life, my family and I love the Kings. I am taking my son to his first Kings game this year as a matter of fact. I am completely sick at this news. It seems like nothing has been finalized, but I don't know what else we can do as a city and as fans. We have been jerked around by Maloofs for years now.
But..I don't want to lose this team. I feel like I have been punched in the stomach.
Keeping the faith though...nothing else I can do.
It's not cool. Not even a little bit. I don't want a team like this. I know all too well what it feels like. Yet, somehow the same people who had their hearts ripped out when KD and the Sonics left are now rejoicing that a team from another city may be headed our way, leaving faithful fans in the dust... Sorry, I get it, but I just don't share that same excitement.Comment

I know the feeling quite well, my friend. I am a grown man and cried when it was official that the Sonics were leaving.

There sure and the hell wasn't going to be any more expansion. So you'd rather have no team whatsoever? Serious question.
There is plenty of basketball left in California for Kings fans to enjoy. Seattle was left with nothing, and was lied to on top of it. These situations are totally different and there should be no regret or remorse for having another team come to Seattle.
Of course the team isn't going to be the same, and hell I wish the '96 Bulls would come back to but things change, people move, players leave.
Only thing Kings fans are a victim of and should be upset about, is their owners having no clue how to be fiscally responsible, nor hire a GM that knows how to draft half of a basketball team. If they did either, they wouldn't be looking to sell in the first place.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Hansen will try to get an NHL team there. The finances for the new arena improve drastically with two main tenants.Comment

How did you expect to get a team then?

I speak only for myself, but when my Sonics left, that was it. The end of an era and the end of the NBA to me. I know it happens... But that doesn't mean I have to like it. When a league and a few select individuals can hold an entire state hostage, well, take your ball and go home. I'm not going to support that. Supposedly, when Key Arena was first renovated, David Stern said it was the model for new arenas... Ah, but all the sudden, a mere 10 years later, it is obsolete? How am I supposed to swallow that one?
You really don't need to tell me that we were lied to and left with nothing.
I know.Comment
