Re: Agreement for new Seattle arena reached

Why do I have a feeling that Stern, Bennett, and their cronies influenced this decision?

The optimist in me would like to think that this is an indicator that expansion is imminent, but Stern very clearly hates Seattle.

No way that should've been a unanimous vote to keep the Kings in Sacramento. It doesn't make any sense.
      NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
      NBA: Dallas Mavericks
      MLB: Texas Rangers
      NHL: Dallas Stars
      NCAA: Alabama Crimson Tide

Wow. Anti Trust suit up. Sacramento has nothing really set up. Just why? No way it's unanimous. That's not right. Seattle had a set plan, everything in place and Sacramento is lucky and we still don't know anything with them. I agree with that one dude if this is true, one giant "**** You" from Stern to Seattle.

Congrats to Kings fans. You lucky you won your case if this Is true. (I haven't seen much articles on this yet though)

Yeah, I'm thinking you may be right. Antitrust is likely next due to the NBA restricting the number of teams in the league, when there are viable options for more cities. It's essentially how the Rays, Bobcats, and Mariners came to exist.

Regardless, good work by Kevin Johnson. I wish we had politicians like him back when this was happening to Seattle. That man worked his *** off and deserves this.

            Stern though....**** that guy.

Looks like if they do decide to try this again, since the agreement on the arena is good for 5 years, Milwaukee is up next.

We got screwed again. I'm soooo done with the NBA. Even if they give us an expansion it won't wash away the bitter taste I have for the NBA. This is coming from an NBA fan of 20 years.

Steve Ballmer is saying expansion isn't an option.

Kind of surprising to see them vote unanimously on this though. I would've thought at least a quarter of the teams would've said yes but definitely not EVERY Owner saying no.

Even more surprising because you already have a couple Owners who have already indicated that they don't like Stern and can't wait for him to finally leave also.

At this point I don't care any more expansion or not. I'm at the boiling point with the NBA. I freakin hate David Stern. What's his beef with Seattle..? That C-Blocker delayed meetings on purpose to give Sacramento time to build a team of owners. Something isn't right and we got screwed big time.

Especially since Hansen spoke to 11 of 12 on the committee over the weekend and they told him they were recommending Seattle. Sounds like Hansen and Ballmer are completely surprised by the decision.

Ballmer said they're analyzing going through with the purchase of the Kings (then presumably relocate later). That's been the only successful way to relocate teams lately.

At this point do you think they're fed up with the NBA as much as we are..? Who knows they're probably like "the hell with the NBA" it wouldn't surprise me and those guys are our best hope of bring the NBA back...

With that said I have to tip my cap off to Steve Ballmer and Chris Hansen

Who knows. Could be considering the way Ballmer isn't holding back. Through Mitch Levy, he's saying Clay Bennett was against Seattle no matter what the terms were. Says the Sacramento arena deal is terrible and will fail within three years.

OTOH, he's basically alluding to them going through with the request to purchase the team and either let them own the Kings or force denial (therefore opening up for lawsuits).

This is a mess. In a few months we could learn both fan bases are in limbo for a few more years.

Like I said, this is a mess.

                                <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Okay - the NBA is full of lawyers - and we should all read the statement carefully - from what I hear... <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23NBAKings">#NBAKings</a></p>&mdash; Chris Daniels (@ChrisDaniels5) <a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisDaniels5/status/329006095098056704">April 29, 2013</a></blockquote>

Relocation has been denied, not the purchase & sale by the finance committee.
