Re: Can you dunk?
No, but yes. I'm only 5'9", but when I played hs/college I had a 36" vertical jump so I could get above the rim. Cleaning up a fast break once I got a rebound off the front of the rim and threw it down, but that was the only way I could dunk since I couldn't palm the ball. Doubt I could even touch the rim these days."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: Can you dunk?
Pretty much this, except I still play and I'm only a couple years out of HS. And I think I'm a legit 5'9.Comment

Re: Can you dunk?
I can dunk, but it isn't pretty and I oftentimes have trouble palming the basketball during a dunk, which can make things go wrong. I am 6'0" tall, but I'm only 20. If I practiced more, I could probably get better, but I don't.Last edited by superjames1992; 08-01-2012, 12:51 AM.Comment

Re: Can you dunk?
I feel like if I kept at it I could dunk but the landing pains kept me from continuing a few years back.Comment

Re: Can you dunk?
Not really, but I've caught (2) one handed alleys though in game, during tourneys in Europe.
- first alley was a lob from the top of the key, I was posted on the left block, spun off, jumped, dunked, landed and couldn't believe it.
- second alley was a lob from the opposite wing, fastbreak, I was going backside, caught it and put it through.
Not too shabby for a 6'1 white guy who plays point and has a nice post game."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment

Re: Can you dunk?
As for the topic, I'm a little under 5'11" (last time I was measured anyway which was 20 years ago). I've dunked once... ever, lol. As others have said, not being able to palm a ball at my height made it tough. I could dunk a volley ball no problem, and in games I've gotten high enough but rarely considered even trying in game (all about the 2 points). I probably could've caught oops back in the day if I tried, but never had a problem taking the layup.Comment

Re: Can you dunk?
Sadly no. I've always been able to grab the rim with ease just never could dunk. I'll be 32 in less than 6weeks so I doubt I ever will at this point. Hell I can't even grab the rim with ease anymore.
This will just go on my list of sports regrets. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Can you dunk?
I was only able to dunk one time and one time only. Still remember it like it was yesterday. Must of have some spring in the legs that day. Plus it was during a game so that made it extra special. I'm only 5'7" but I had some Wade like quickness so I was a great shot blocker for my size. I remember I threw it down one handed and my leg kicked so damn high in the air tryna reach the rim I could have pulled something. Ahh memories...http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Can you dunk?
10 years ago i could not anymore, now i'm a 6' overweight 35 year old, can still touch the rim but way out of shape to be able to dunk again, but it's nice to have done it, i was always better at doing alley ops then dunking it my self as i have small hands and can't palm the ball.Comment
