If it was about "just getting rid of Boozer's contract" then we would just amnesty him and cut the losses.

Trading for Bargs locks us in to that 12 million instead of allowing us to shed 17 in 2014. This also pretty much makes it a foregone conclusion that Deng will be retained under Bird Rights, because the flexibility we would have had to amnesty Boozer and make a big splash in FA will have been severely hampered. (Whether we sign anyone is another story, but we won't know with Bargs on the roster)

Trade makes no sense for Chicago. Especially given the current situation of this team and the fact we've played all year without our best player. Our best basketball with this roster is still ahead of us.

That's a really good point. Instead of having 16.8 million coming off the books in 2014, you're stuck with Bargs' 12 million dollar salary for that year. Unless he exercises his ETO which he definitely won't.

Exactly. No one in their right mind is going to be paying 12 million dollars on the FA market for Andrea Bargnani.

He would most certainly opt in, no matter the circumstance.

You save about 5 mil per year with Bargs, but we have been over all this.

And knowing reinsdorf, no way he uses the Amnesty. It doesn't just make the salary go away, they still owe him whatever is left (minus what some other team pays him), it just frees up cap space for another signing.

Anyway, I doubt it happens, but I think that is because Toronto doesn't want boozers deal, which kinda says it all anyway.

So apparently the Nets are trying to get Josh Smith? If that's true, lmao at them getting two guys who could not get it done in Atlanta and then taking on their max deals [assuming Smith gets a max deal].

You keep holding onto this 5 million dollar figure like that is some form of gigantic cap relief, but don't look at the other side of the coin, nor caveats of this deal moving forward.

Seems like it would be Atlanta all over again, instead a PG in Williams rather than a 4/5 with Horford.

In fairness, there was no Deron Williams in Atlanta at that time. Brook, Smith, Joe and Deron, Crash in the mix too possibly? Couldn't do much worse than what Atlanta was.

I would be curious as to whom Brooklyn would have to part with. To pay Williams, Johnson, Lopez and Smith all the maxes, seems impossible. Not to mention Crash has a sizeable contract as well. I'm guessing Lopez and/or Crash would be in the deal?

If Brooklyn was to send Lopez... LMAOOO. I heard though Alanta would want a young big man, so this might be a 3 team trade.

The Nets are trying to pawn off Mr. Kardashian. Any trade by them will include him & not Brook or Crash.

Humpries, Marshon, Tetlovic & probably a 1st rounder would be the Nets offer for Josh staright up. If that doesn't work, then it will be a multi-team deal

From what I've seen that's what the deal would likely be. The Nets 'are offering' Marshon and Hump but it isn't enough for Atlanta's likes. They are asking for at least Marshon, Hump and the Nets first rounder.
