i personally feel it is a bad idea. Hey if the players are good enough why should they not be allowed to play. I mean its the teams taking a risk on them.

The problem is is that alot of them aren't good enough.Nate robinson possibly declaring for the draft?PLEASE!

so then they are the ones to suffer. I mean either they get hurt by not being drafted or the team gets hurt by drafting them. But they shouldn't have to ruin it for everyone else.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

      Re: NBA Rule Change Rumor

A friend of mine and I came up with a good idea about this whole age limit thing.

What we propose is to not completely disallow players under 21 to be drafted, but rather to pay them less. However, they will still count against the salary cap by the same amount as now. For example, #1 pick right now makes about 4 million guaranteed over 3 years with a 4th year option. Under our proposed scale, the player would actually make some factor less (say 5, so 800000 over 3 years) but it would still count as 1.3 million per year against the salary cap of the team that drafted him.

This accomplishes the goals in mind:

      1) Teams will be much more cautious with picking underclassmen/HS unless they are truly ready for the jump.
      2) More kids will go to college because they will be making more money in the long run if they do. Using my factor of 5, if an underclassman happens to slip to the second round, he'll only be making 72,000 a year!
      3) The Lebrons and Carmelos will still be drafted because we all know they make their real money off endorsements, not the rookie pay scale.

In return, the league can propose to the union a slight increase in rookie pay scales and max contracts.

If I decide to go pro and end not getting draft or end up being a bust, THEN THATS MY FAULT. Ill just have to pay for it. If it works out then its all good. All this crap about David Stern wanting to protect the NBA, blah, blah, the quality is going down. Hell its the veterans who act like the biggest jackasses anyway. And the coaches work for David Stern and they are the ones who draft the players. U guys act like these high schoolers just force their way onto a team. These coaches dont HAVE to draft them. They can still take the 4 year college graduate if they want. I think people try to control everything and then claim, "oh it will help the game". Thats bull. Hell most of the best players in the league played 1 year of college or came straight from high school. Its just something else the guys at the top want to have control over just like every other orginization in the world.
