He's just setting this up for the playoffs. When they face the Kings, Cristie and Company will think they got Kobe covered, until he goes on a tear and averages 40 for the series . . . watch.

On a more serious and non-fanboyism note, both you know, and I know that Kobe could have easily broken through those double-teams. Now I'm not sure if he was AVOIDING shots, I just think that Phil told him to be more passive. I'm pretty sure that after all this crap the media puts on him, he got confused to the point where he thought it would be best to just pass it to his teammates. Obviously he picked the wrong time to not be Kobe, but hopefully the media, Kobe, his teammates, and most importantly, Phil Jackson realize that the Kobe they need is what you guys call "the selfish Kobe." I'd take 30, 5, and 5 with 25 shot attempts rather than 8, 4, 5 with 11 shot attempts.

BTW: Kobe, never do this again . . . never. This, IMO is an all-time low. Worse than the air-balls in Utah and the 40 shots for 40 points incident . . . if you did do this on purpose.

Did you get this out of the Book of Laker Make Believe

That mindless drivel of setting teams and the media up like there is in-fighting and that the team won't play good but in actuality ready to blow teams out DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE.

And get it through your head...Kobe really is not enjoying himself out there. It's pretty obvious now.

    Stop the madness.

Wow, thats a dunbass comment. Kobe was criticized for taking 70 shots in the last three games on a team with shaq, malone, payton and a solid bench. No one said dont shoot kobe, it was about better selection and unselfish play. Unselfish play doesnt mean passing the ball all game when you have the skills of a kobe bryant to defeat defense. If anything what he did sunday was selfish because he was obviously taking a big game and using it as a statement, maybe to phil jackson. Its pretty selfish to put up a front like kobe did while passively allowing the kings to pump up their lead.

IMO what kobe did yesterday was worse than what a few players (Melo, Chris Mihm, a couple others) did in not coming into the game when the coach told them to. Think about it, I'd rather have kareem rush on the floor playing hard than kobe smirking and passing up shots and using "double team" as his reasoning.

Double teams should never stop a superstar. I have never heard/read such [censored] in my time following the NBA.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

i would expect something like that from a paul pierce/melo fan, but anyway he took 13 shots and your criticzing him. What gives? He shot 70 shots in 3 games which averages to about 23 shots a game, but you said that he had gp, karl malone, and shaq so he only takes 13 shots, and then you still critize him.

edit: You probably would have criticzied him even he took 20 shots so i don't really see the point of that.

Re: What is this Mumbo Jumbo Kobe is talking about??

It's hard to figure what is going on with Kobe. Some previous post mentioning that it is a lose lose situation is a correct statement. Being an LA native and huge Laker fan I listen to most of the local talk radio shows and Laker post game shows. Every time the Lakers lose, the post game callers immediately call in blaming it on Kobe. When the Lakers win he gets praise from some callers and most of the others still complain about his shot selection. I love Shaq and he is a great player but he gets a "free pass" from most of the fans and media around here. My man needs to really step up and work on free throws but that will most likely never happen. Nobody is saying much about Shaq getting four and five boards in some games. The bottom line is that the Lakers can't win if they try to contain Kobe. You have to take the good with the bad and in many cases Laker fans have had more good than bad with 3 championships in a row. If Kobe decides to leave the Lakers will instantly turn into a very average team at best in the Western Conference.

Kobe did handle things poorly against the Kings. I was checking out some post game interviews and he said that the Kings and Christie played great defense. Yeah right!!!!! The Kings don't play Defense and Kobe was averaging almost 40 points against the Kings for the last few years.

I have never heard/read such [censored] in my time following the NBA.

i would expect something like that from a paul pierce/melo fan, but anyway he took 13 shots and your criticzing him. What gives? He shot 70 shots in 3 games which averages to about 23 shots a game, but you said that he had gp, karl malone, and shaq so he only takes 13 shots, and then you still critize him.

edit: You probably would have criticzied him even he took 20 shots so i don't really see the point of that.

I didnt criticize him for 70 shots in three games, I said "he was criticized" as in by others. I dont know your favorite player and I really dont give a damn, but dont assume my view is clouded by bias. I like kobe, tmac all those guys are great players. And I dont know what the hell liking pierce or melo has to do with what I said. dont rip someone when you dont know what you're talking about.
