            Re: LBJ is ROY

Okay, the one and only reason that the Cavs did not get into the playoffs, is because of Ricky Davis. If he would have been gone at the first of the year, Lebron would have had the freedom to take over the team, and lead them to a little bit better of a start. Even if they only win two more games at the start of the season, they are in the playoffs. But Ricky "I'm a Star, even if you all don't see it" Davis had to be a punk and try to make it his team. But without Ricky D, this team let Lebron lead them, and come into his own. If that would have been the case the whole season, Lebron's #'s would have been a lot better.

The Nuggets did have the better team, for the whole season. They kept the same team, and were gelled, and were able to pull it together when it counted. The Cavs needed a little bit longer to gel as a team, and I think next year, they will be a pretty tough team to reckon with.

                  Re: LBJ is ROY

Well, it is as I figured the voters for the rookie of the year choked!! I don't see how any one can sit back and observe this years battle for rookie of the year and say that Lebron earned it..he did not earn it. Everyone says that Carmelo had better stats in the catagories that counts (which he did) by only a margin, well correct me if I am wrong either your stats are better or they are not. If someone averages 30.1 points per game and his competition averages 30.0 per game guess who gets the scoring title?

It appears that Carmelo is being punished for going to college. While he was 18 he was leading his team to a NCAA Championship, while Lebron was 18 he was in high school getting hype. Let's flash to the NBA, all season long ESPN and Bill Walton were selling Lebron as rookie of the year, did he have a great year?..Yes, he had an exceptional year, but, a lot of you are not factoring in the fact that Carmelo had a better year. The stats tell you that. Now, these arguments about who would have done what if they switched teams is totally irrelevant. The question should be if Lebron and Carmelo switched places as far as stats and performance goes what the discussion would be? There would be no discussion, Lebron would have got ROY with no argument from me. You guys are forgetting that Carmelo had a year of college under his belt, he was better suited to lead Denver and to be a bigger factor on a team than Lebron was, why? because he had already demonstrated this at Syracuse! He came into the league knowing how to get his game off, knowing how to compete at a higher level than Lebron. He should be recognized for this not punished for it.

Carmelo was the reason Denver made the playoffs, you need look no further than their last game against portland. Again, Lebron and Carmelo are great young prospects, but ROY should have honestly went to Carmelo. Oh well, I guess while Lebron, his ROY trophy and Thirst are sitting at home drinking sprite, Carmelo will be shining in the playoffs! Showem my motto!...Lebron sucks!!! Just teasing, the ROY voters suck!!!!

Bottomline is Carmelo earned rookie of the year and Lebron did not.

Yep, you are exactly right. Carmelo should have gotten the ROY honor because he went to college and showed he could win a college national championship.

The fact is, Carmelo was jacking up shots all year long, which is why he had the points up there. If Lebron would have had control over the Cavs instead of Ricky D, he would have been well over Melo in scoring.

And yes, the switching teams is relevant. If Carmelo was on the Cavs, there is no way that they would have gotten as far as they did. The reason being is that Melo, although a good scorer, would have never made Boozer what Lebron did. Lebron finds the right guy, at the right time, which is a reason why this Cleveland team did as good as they did. They got off to a horrible start because of Ricky davis. If they would have started off with the team they finished with, like Denver, then they would have been in the top 5 teams in the east. The nuggets had the same team all year. Started off strong, finished decent. The Cavs had a fungus on their team early in the year. Started off horrible, got better after the trade, and then became a contender the longer the season went. Their is no comparison. Stats are not the only thing that ROY voters consider. It is which rookie had the biggest impact (single handedly) on their team/league.

ANd whoever said that the Cavs/Nuggets teams were equal and listed Eric Williams... Did you even watch the Cavs play? Eric Williams did horrible for the Cavs. He had a few good games for them.

Terrible analogy. The scoring title is quantitative. Whoever scores the most wins. Awards are given out to people based on a multitude of categories. If someone outscores someone by .1 ppg, which works out to a whopping 8.2 total points difference over an 82 game season, it's too close to say that one of them did a clearly better job at scoring. You have to look at the whole picture and not assign each stat category a clear winner when stats are that close. I'm sure this is what the voters for ROY consider.

I have no clue what you're talking about with respect to Carmelo in college. Prior playing level has jack squat to do with ROY. It's based on this year.
