Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
LOWRY STAYING!
How sad is this though...I believe this is first time EVER Raptors have re-signed star player on their team to a deal longer than 3 years(Bosh got 3,only cause of Wade/Lebrons agreement with him, and DeRozan currently has 3 too,but he wasn't as good/important to the team when signing that deal as Lowry is now)
Sad,but SIGNIFICANT! Hopefully this is further start of turnaround for Raptors franchise. No more being a joke, being a team who can't hold onto players that breakout with them. They have a team that they can build around and keep together for years AND as of now, they're under the luxury tax(if I calculated correctly, they'll have around 3M still to spend, despite having 16 guys signed!) Raptors have one of richest owners in pro sports so if the time ever comes where going over luxury cap means they'd get a great player, they'd have no problem at all with it.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Still have Gasol, Ariza, Deng, Steve Blake, Marion, Vince, Stuckey, Pierce, Blair, Hill, Hawes, Booker, Butler, they'll land something decent.. At least I think they will? Maybe

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
i wonder if the 3 of them taking so long to decide to return is actually hindering their chances of returning/being a legit championship contender next yearComment

You keep doubting Pat Riley after only 2 days of FA and keep believing these BS reports that keep coming out about them splitting up.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Guessing those reports of Lowry knowing he's staying in Toronto were true then, cause he took this pic just now when confirming he'll be returning(which,if he was undecided about his future until recently,I doubt he'd have all this stuff ready to wear the moment it's announced he's returning)

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
so lets say logically speaking, marion stays in dallas, hawes goes to GSW, pierce goes to LAC, deng/ariza go to non miami, vince returns to dallas/toronto... id take blake/stuckey over rio/cole , and i like blair but havent heard anything linking either of those remaining guys except caron to miami....is miami really in a better position than last year?
i wonder if the 3 of them taking so long to decide to return is actually hindering their chances of returning/being a legit championship contender next year
I don't think they are trying to make an overhaul. Likely all they are losing is Battier, everyone else is probably returning for cheaper.. I don't think they would risk ruining chemistry for marginal talent upgrades.
So if they lost Battier, James Jones, Oden, for Blake, Stuckey, Butler/Hill or Ed Davis or something, then yeah I'd say it's a slight upgrade.

Boozer has been amnestied
Sun Times
Officially, the Bulls still have several weeks to decide on the amnesty provision for Carlos Boozer. But they don’t need it.A source said Wednesday that Boozer’s departure is a “done deal,” adding that Boozer’s camp already has been informed. There haven’t been any buyers on a sign-and-trade for Boozer, and the Bulls also want the money to go in a different direction, whether Carmelo Anthony is in the mix or not.Under the amnesty provision, Boozer still will be paid the $16.8 million he’s due next season, but it won’t count against the salary cap. There was a minority opinion that chairman Jerry Reinsdorf wouldn’t want to pay a player and get nothing in return, but that’s not the case. The Bulls think the time to make a run in the Eastern Conference is now, and it can’t be accomplished with BoozerLast edited by 23; 07-02-2014, 10:31 PM.Comment
