If the Bulls want melo and afflalo there is no way they could get them and hang onto taj and butler...

They amnest boozer and that gives them roughly 14M in cap... Melo is going to get at least 18... They dump Dunleavy and they have enough for Melo. Afflalo is 7.5M... You would have to trade Taj for him. Also you would have to move the two first round picks as well... maybe Tony Snell as well.

You could have

Rose/Afflalo/Butler/Anthony/Noah

Then pray Mirotic will sign for the MLE and the rest of your team are all 1M vet minimum.

He'll probably agree to some crazy low contract if he decides to go to a top team

This is not accurate. Afflalo will be making 7.5 million this season. The lure for the Magic is getting rid of Afflalo's contract and future draft picks. The Bulls could package the non-guaranteed contracts of Ronnie Brewer, Mike James and Lou Amundson with said draft pick for the Magic in a deal to take Afflalo off their hands. That could happen before or after engaging New York in a sign and trade for Carmelo using Boozer's contract. There's a lot of doing that needs to be done, but it COULD be done.

Well, coming as a shock to no one, Rudy Gay is exercising his 19.3 million dollar option for next year.

Another big reason why the deal Raptors made was so good. Even if Raptors stayed the same(or got worse) after trading Gay, that's almost 20M they'd have to keep on their roster. Right now it's looking like maybe 15M at most they'd be keeping in salary, and that's with 3 of the guys from that deal on the team(2 of which negotiating a new contract)

I would like to think Pau heads back to Memphis to play with his brother. Though with their bench bigs already giving good contributions and ZBo still around there just isn't a need for him.

Pau will drive Pop crazy on defense. He will not be able to defend like they do. What fits the best guys like Pau or Dirk is a Tyson or a De andre behind them. They don't need another dude who wants to shoot mid range jumpers and post up the elbows.

Pau would be a tailor fit in our system....on both sides...it's a pipe dream anyway...but I would love it..

Regarding the Melo sign and trade stuff, is Mirotic and multiple first round picks really realistic? I feel like sign and traces generally result in one first round pick if the other team is lucky, not what is basically 3 first round picks (Mirotic would probably be a lottery pick this year as well)

The only way the Knicks do a ST with for Boozer is if they throw in a first and Mirocovic

If they do not throw that player in then is Boozer and 2 firsts.

If not then why would the Knicks take on Boozer who has a year left when melo opted out and we save that money to use next season of this year

Bulls fans either sign him for cheaper then Knicks or pony up because giving us Boozer is not a deal.

If Pau accepts a bench role, then it could be possible. Then I could see Grizzlies signing Pau and then either not bringing Davis back, or just trading him, along with either Leuer or Koufos for a SF(or trading 1-2 of those guys along with their 2014 1st round pick to move up in the 2014 draft,but that'd obviously only be able to happen if they knew(specifically from Marc himself) that Pau would be going there).

ZBo would have to decline his option. Which I'm 99% sure wouldn't happen. I just thought it would be cool to see the brothers together, not really something I would actually think can/would happen.
