You are right, Wharton, it's not worth it to argue with each other. We have such vastly different opinions, most notable being that Kevin Love would leave if traded to Cleveland.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Honestly if this new coach can get Kyrie and Waiters to mesh and Waiters to be fine with a 4th option role the trade isn't all that bad. I think Waiters is quite a bit better than he's labeled, I think if he were in a winning situation like Klay, Beal, Lance people would hold him to their standard.
If they traded Wiggins, TT/Bennett, and a first but took back Mo and Brewer with Love they could be pretty dangerous. Even without much time to mesh and a rookie coach..
Biggest concern is Love leaving, and Waiters leaving to get paid (because they have no money) when they could have kept Wiggins a couple years longer. And for me it's not worth the gamble nor do I believe Love makes them anymore of a contender in year one than keeping everyone does..
Obviously if they make the trade they'll be great, I just personally don't like it or want it to happen. Either way I'll be excited to see either Cavs team play next year.Comment

Everyone's just throwing mud at a wall and hoping something sticks. Woj has literally said nothing, therefore I doubt anyone knows anything.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Is there any type of loophole? Like if he has yet to sign anything? I honestly don't see why Minny would even want to sign Mo if it wasn't for this trade, unless the trade happens in December, what do they want with Mo.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
From Larry Coon:
Can a free agent be signed and immediately traded?
There is a rule that allows teams to re-sign their own free agents for trading purposes, called the sign-and-trade rule. Under this rule the player is re-signed and immediately traded to another team. This is done by adding a clause to the contract stipulating that the contract is null and void if the trade to the specific team is not completed within 48 hours. To qualify for a sign-and-trade, all of the following must be true:
The player must re-sign with his prior team -- a team cannot include another team's free agent in a sign-and-trade.
The player must finish the preceding season with that team (deals are no longer allowed that sign-and-trade players who are out of the league, such as the sign-and-trade that sent Keith Van Horn from Dallas to New Jersey as part of the Jason Kidd trade in 2008).
The player cannot be a restricted free agent who has signed an offer sheet with another team (see question number 44).
Starting in 2013-14, the team receiving the player cannot be above the "apron" ($4 million above the tax level) after the trade1, 2. A team above the apron can receive a player in a sign-and-trade if the trade reduces the team's payroll and the team finishes the trade below the apron.
Starting in 2013-14, the team cannot receive a player in a sign-and-trade if they have used the Taxpayer Mid-Level exception (see question number 25) that season.1
The trade must be completed prior to the first game of the regular season (sign-and-trades are not allowed once the season begins).
The player cannot be signed using the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, the Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, or any exception that cannot be used to offer a three-year contract (see question number 25).Too Old To Game Club

In the latest signal that a Kevin Love trade to Cleveland is inevitable, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told the St. Paul Pioneer Press to a Love trade is "likely" by Aug. 23 or Aug. 24.
In the latest signal that a Kevin Love deal to Cleveland is inevitable, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that a trade of the All-Star forward is "likely" by Aug. 23 or Aug. 24.
Aug. 23 happens to be the first day Cavaliers rookie Andrew Wiggins is eligible to be traded.
Cleveland signed Wiggins to a four-year deal on July 24, but because of league rules on rookie deals, the Cavs are not able to trade him for at least 30 days.
"I'm saying it's most likely because Kevin has made it pretty clear that that's what he wants to do," Taylor told the Pioneer Press, adding that his preference is to keep Love in Minnesota.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
It's pretty low of Minnesota to shift the blame to Kevin.
Love wanted a max contract in Minnesota, and Kahn said no. He wouldn't give Love the 5th year option he wanted, handled the negotiations horribly, and burned several if not all bridges with Love to Minnesota.
It cannot be understated just how bad of a FO guy David Kahn was.Too Old To Game Club

Report: Andrew Wiggins has not been informed a trade is on the way, anticipates remaining with Cavaliers http://dlvr.it/6VsWnr

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
They aren't losing out on much if they get Wiggins + picks in return for Love. They just need to build a culture and actually bring in at least one other quality player - they never did that for long with Garnett and Love never had another elite/quality teammate - to play with Wiggins.
