    Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

Kerr just seems really smart, idk how well that will translate to coaching but he made some good moves as a GM and seems to be by far the most knowledgable analyst. Like I said, I have no idea if that translates at all to coaching but for teams like LA and NY it's not like they have much to lose at this point.

Apparently they cleaned house in GS. The whole coaching staff is gone. As opposed to Memphis where they just let Hollins go. Dave Joerger did alright considering the circumstances.

Agree on UD. I didn't include him because I assumed he wouldn't use his option so he won't miss out on $4mil guaranteed. He deserves it.

Cole isn't a RFA until next off season. I'd like it if he was a career guy here in Miami though.

Tyson Chandler would be a good fit. Anybody have an idea on what his market is like? I heard Dallas wants to bring him back; they can pay him a lot more than us. I'm sure the allure of a ring might bring him here for less.

I have no problem with Steve Kerr getting a lot of interest, sure he's got no exp. coaching, but every year bad coaches get hired after being fired IE mike brown, mike d'antoni type guys that have shown they're not great, why not take a low risk high reward in a Kerr type.

At least that dude has SOME coaching experience though, 23. Kerr has zero on any level.

I remember Hoiberg's name popping up to a few jobs for a couple of years now. Twolves being one of them as a matter of fact.

I'd see them on the same level even still.

I understand I just find it strange the guys name keeps popping up out of the blue like the local politics of the league will make sure he lands somewhere.

I don't really see how they're on the same level. He was the Big 12 coach of the year back in 2012, he's got like a .650 something winning percentage as coach at Iowa State, he's lead them to the tournament all but one year since he got there back in 2010 and he's coming off a Big 12 championship this season and a run to the Sweet Sixteen. Compared to Kerr's zero experience coaching. That's not even counting that Hoiberg worked in the Timberwolves front office after he retired up until he took the Iowa State job.

zero wins as an NBA coach
                        Both would be rookie coaches

So yeah they'd be on the same level in that sense.

Ugh I hope we don't go overpay for Chandler's fragile ***. Ever since he left Dallas he's been a walking injury machine. Doesn't help he's gonna be 3 years older than when he won that championship with us.

Actually, Chandler doesn't expire until next offseason. Any deal for him would have to be a trade. I don't think either of us have the cap space for that.

BTH, I think you were looking at 2014/15 FAs.

Stan Van Gundy has been mentioned in the media as a potential candidate to replace Mark Jackson as head coach of the Golden State Warriors.

“(The) Warriors had success on the floor but something wasn’t working," said Van Gundy. "You need to have alignment.”

Van Gundy has been out of coaching for two seasons after parting ways with the Orlando Magic.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that Van Gundy has support in several corners of the Warriors' organizations, but the team has yet to formally reach out to him yet.
This dude is fishing for a job

I believe it this was him in Jacksons position he would've went on a rant publicly about the owner... Probably why teams could be hesitant with him.
