Plus you can't call the reactions harsh. Most people want their teams who have been more contenders and relevant in the past 2-3 years to get their shot at the spotlight. I agree that LA will only be on bc it's better for market not bc they deserve it, but I'm certainly not gonna see why many of us on here aren't happy with that and understandable so.

I'm not saying I expect it to be some down to the wire game or that I think LA is anywhere close to the level Chicago should be at this season.. But you're saying this like a blowout victory is some common occurrence in the NBA, and that is far from the case. Just glancing through the Lakers schedule last season I only caught 11 of their 82 games resulting in a loss of 20 points or more. It would be less surprising for me to see a Lakers victory than it would be a blowout win for Chicago.

The return of Rose vs. the return of Kobe just seems like a common sense no brainer type of matchup that the NBA would use for opening night, or Christmas, or something.. I don't get the issue. Not to mention Pau and Boozer swapping sides just to add to the "hype".

And I don't know why people are acting as if the Lakers have been down and out for awhile now. Last season was the only year they missed the playoffs, and arguably the most marketable player in the world is making a "return" this year. Other than teams within title contention, like last years OKC, Indy, Miami, SA, idk how any one playoff team is considered more "relevant" than another. Especially when one of those teams has Kobe Bryant and have won 5 championships during this era, it's really pretty reasonable as to why they get these games.

He is absolutely massive though, so worth a shot. Dude is in terrible shape, so maybe NBA conditioning can make him a role player.

As long as the Lakers play in LA and as long as Kobe Bean Bryant is on that team, people are going to watch them instead of your Charlottes or Washington's or Memphis' or Brooklyn's(despite the fact they play in the biggest market in the country but yet they still draw horribly)or Toronto's or Atlanta's.

But what is the reason why the Lakers/Knicks are always playing on Christmas Day every year? There's gotta be a reason as to why those two always remain but every one is constantly shuffled around.
I understand why the Lakers are getting more national TV games than those teams, its pretty obvious. But I see absolutely no reason why they're getting almost DOUBLE the national TV games than teams like the Mavs and Suns are getting.

And like OJ said, for us hardcore fans, it shouldn't even matter to us since we all have League Pass anyway and can watch those teams as many times as we want.

Well fortunately for you and others in that same situation, there are other options available where you don't have to pay a dime. Whether you want to advantage of that is up to you.

But that's a whole different discussion right there so I'll just say "great post OJ".

and I dont think great post OJ just repeating the same thing thats been said.

I'll be glad when we can find something else to talk about already because apparently the lakers will be a big topic no matter what anyway.

The sad part about this is that I'm surprised the discussion has gone on this long.

I just hope one day the league can give every team the same amount of games on National TV. Only for us to complain "why are these teams on national tv when they both suck?" or "Man this game is boring". It's a cycle, lol.

Its all about money motivations and I think the league would still do fine if they showed some other teams sometimes. I dont care what market you're in, you dont NEED 45 games on national tv lol

Anything the NBA does is usually money motivated and not "for the fans" casual or hardcore and we all know this.

We already experienced last year how they butchered the scheduling up so bad you were hard pressed not to wonder what happened.

I also think they need to leave ABC and give NBC a shot again so we can start seeing some weekend double and triple headers like they used to do.

Funny thing is, when we do get a 'diverse' match up on national TV...it's a ghost town in the discussion thread, lol
