I like how everyone 'trusts' Kobe's word...even though he already proved he was full of crap.

I remember a July 4th weekend about a year ago and a press conference that followed. Just to paraphrase:

"Come on, you guys know me, I'd never do that."

Turns out dude did cheat on his wife and he is a lying piece of crap.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Who in the hell are we to Kobe Bryant where he has to tell us his business. He has no obligation to inform us about his personal life. I'll let ya'll in some of mine though. I cheated on my girlfriend a couple of times and if I were married, I wouldn't rule it out. Does that make me a bad person? Yes it does, but I could care less. I do what I want to do. The Kobe hating is extreme. All and all you'll always find "respect" in "disrespect".

I hope he did get rid of Mr. Overrated Phil Jackson, and it's about time they dumped Shaq. Why prolong the inevitable.

    1. The Lakers were not going to win another championship with Shaq and Kobe
    2. No one can argue the fact that Shaq would have always been the first to go(retirement), even if he stayed with the Lakers

So why waste two more years paying Shaq a butt load of money when you aren't getting championships. You ain't losing money. Kobe puts the fans in the seats. Might aswell just get it over with and start the rebuilding now. The NBA is a business. I hope no one thinks that Kobe got his way because he makes Buss laugh and he does nice things in the community.

Actually Kobe is ahead of MJ as far as career numbers. He's ahead of everyone as he is the youngest to ever get to 10,000 points scored, and his 3 championships before MJ got one also are worth noting. If he goes on another run of championships, you'll have no choice but to acknowledge that. Penny never achieved that, noone else has except Kobe.

Ahead of him in career numbers? I would really like to see proof on that.

And you would put Kobe in the same light as Money because he got 3 rings much earlier in his career? Don't you think Shaq had something to do with that? Penny got to the Finals with a less experienced Shaq that one time and ran into Olajuwon. And then Shaq left.

Now if Kobe got those rings with him as the main guy like Money, now we're talkin'. But that wasn't the case.

It's not the rings I am talking about. Back in Orlando with Shaq, Penny had some great games and was touted as the next Jordan and some fans and some media 'experts' went as far as saying he was the better player in that team.

The same happened over the last few years in LA with Kobe and Shaq. In my eyes, Kobe was the second hand in that team, much like Penny was. What did Penny do when Shaq left? I predict a similar future for Kobe now that the most dominant player in NBA history has left his team.

Also, just a minor note in the whole rings thing...
If Nick the Brick Anderson had of hit at least 1 or 2 his 4 straight free throws (he missed all) back in game one of the finals VS Houston, it could have been a completely different story and Shaq and Penny go on to get their ring.

Secondly, that Orlando team was a top team, it was just unfortunate for them that they had the Bulls to deal with, something the champion Lakers never had against them.

Sure no one can take away Kobe's 3 rings and his stats in relation to his age and so on. But if his career success is only moderate from here on in, then his legacy will be remembered along the lines of Scottie Pippen, a very good player who won, yet needed the best beside him. (although Kobe will have to do a lot this year, given Pippen's huge year after Jordan left. Pip could have had a finals birth and an MVP if it wasn't for a dodgy shooting foul awarded against him on Hubert Davis...).

I'll be the first one to admit my predictions were wrong and congratulate Kobe and his diehard fans if he proves me wrong, but I will stand by my thoughts until then.
So let's wait and see huh?

As for Penney, yeah he was getting hype, but he wasn't hitting game winners like Kobe does. He wasn't taking over games in the playoffs like Kobe does. It's more of an insult to compare Penny to Kobe then it is Kobe to MJ.

                            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Look it up, but this main guy issue goes away if Kobe wins some more rings. Especially if Shaq doesn't, and Kobe does.

As for Penney, yeah he was getting hype, but he wasn't hitting game winners like Kobe does. He wasn't taking over games in the playoffs like Kobe does. It's more of an insult to compare Penny to Kobe then it is Kobe to MJ.

Hitting game winners in reg season games for the Lakers? NVE did the same thing. Taking over games like the finals in games 4 and 5? No thanks, but Penny was hyped and put in the exact same category Kobe is when he played with Shaq whether we agreed with it or not, they were saying the same thing.
