Actually Kobe is ahead of MJ as far as career numbers. He's ahead of everyone as he is the youngest to ever get to 10,000 points scored, and his 3 championships before MJ got one also are worth noting. If he goes on another run of championships, you'll have no choice but to acknowledge that. Penny never achieved that, noone else has except Kobe.

Ahead of him in career numbers? I would really like to see proof on that.
And you would put Kobe in the same light as Money because he got 3 rings much earlier in his career? Don't you think Shaq had something to do with that? Penny got to the Finals with a less experienced Shaq that one time and ran into Olajuwon. And then Shaq left.
Now if Kobe got those rings with him as the main guy like Money, now we're talkin'. But that wasn't the case.

Look it up, but this main guy issue goes away if Kobe wins some more rings. Especially if Shaq doesn't, and Kobe does.
As for Penney, yeah he was getting hype, but he wasn't hitting game winners like Kobe does. He wasn't taking over games in the playoffs like Kobe does. It's more of an insult to compare Penny to Kobe then it is Kobe to MJ.

Hitting game winners in reg season games for the Lakers? NVE did the same thing. Taking over games like the finals in games 4 and 5? No thanks, but Penny was hyped and put in the exact same category Kobe is when he played with Shaq whether we agreed with it or not, they were saying the same thing.
