Re: MVP of the season so far?
Hill and Kidd shared rookie of year. I wouldn't be against it really.

Re: MVP of the season so far?
That's what I'm saying yes, but I'm saying it with a deeper purpose/meaning than that lol.. Obviously if you are making shots you are a better player than when you are missing shots lol. Harden's game is more diverse. He scores more on drives, creates more points for his team on drives, gets to the free throw line more.. I just feel he has a bigger overall impact. Obviously Curry can shoot 0/10 from three and still be better than 90% of the league, but between just him and Harden I think there is a difference.
And it's not just that Harden is scoring a few more points than Curry, he's scoring more than any player in the league.. If Curry had a way to separate himself, say averaging 9-10 assists a night or something, I would think it would be more logical to see him win.

As far as the award goes, the voters have been extremely consistent for the most part throughout NBA history. The MVP goes to the best player on the best team. That's the unspoken criteria. Whether or not thats fair, an accurate description of what valuable means ect is a different debate I think. Based on the historical criteria, its Curry's award going away.

Re: MVP of the season so far?
I'm not sure I follow. Why wouldn't what you say about Curry also apply to Harden with respect to his free throws? If teams deny him free access to the lane (San Antonio a few days ago for example) then his impact is diminished in much the same way as you describe the impact to Curry and his team. I'd actually argue that it might be worse. Maybe I'm not understanding you.

Re: MVP of the season so far?
I honestly think it's more coincidental. As I was saying about the QB in the NFL, it's likely that the best player on the best team SHOULD be the MVP most years. I don't think it's as black and white as that when it comes to the voting, but we can never know. I do think team accomplishments means more than many would like (and I actually think it should mean a good amount).

Re: MVP of the season so far?
It might well be a correlation/causation misread on my part. The consistency with regard to voter habits is hard to overlook though. Even if it isn't an explicit part of the process predicting along the "best player/best team" line will get you the MVP 9/10.

I get why James Harden is so high on some list. His team is 5th seed.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: MVP of the season so far?
Curry is definitely the MVP, although one can argue a case for Harden. I won't really argue for either candidate though, since they are both amazing.
There absolutely no way Westbrook should be MVP though. When Durant carried the Thunder last year, they were still playing winning basketball. Westbrook is putting up some ridiculously gaudy numbers, but aren't they empty stats? He's been incredibly inefficient and OKC have lost a chunk of the games in which he scored 40+. Westbrook's current situation is comparable to that of Harden's, with Harden playing better team ball.Successful Transactions:

Re: MVP of the season so far?
Your also forgetting okc lost ibaka, there defensive anchor. And they also still have a chance at 8th, you also have to consider brooks bad playcalling killed there chance to win some close games, so no westbrook isnt putting up empty stats. Theyd be empty if they were like 10th place. But this is the west, theres about 3 teams that were trying to get a playoff spot as well that any other year couldve had it.
Harden carried his team to the #2 seed and division title in the toughest division in the league.
Last year Durant carried his team to the #2 seed and division title as well.
This year despite some AMAZING numbers WB wasn't able to carry his team to the playoffs.
It's still sick to think OKC could have had all three.Comment
