Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Paul wanted to go to LA, and chose Lakers but then trade was vetoed,so he settled for Clippers, but either way,he still ended up going to LA cause that's what he wanted.
Dwight wanted out of Orlando too though. It wasn't his first choice, but he ended up going to LA either way. Had things worked out, surely he would've stayed there.
He's only been there for 3 years. 22 years old and he gets biggest contract in the league...of course anyone would stay under those conditions. He would've been RFA for a number of years to come anyways. The real test will come in around 3-4 years from now. Lebron was in Cleveland for 7 years before going to Miami. Carmelo was in his 8th season when traded. Howard left Orlando after 8 seasons. Paul left New Orleans after 6 years.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
No the hell it wouldn't lol. I like DA but he's clearly wrong on that. Because if a "generic" NBA team (he may as well say small market like Milwaukee or Utah or one of these other teams that the national media doesn't give two drops of piss about unless they're directly affecting a LA or New York or LeBron) made those moves, they wouldn't even be talking about that team because they'd be ignoring them to talk about whatever **** is going on with the Lakers or how many shakes LeBron gave before zipping up. They'd get a small blurb about the moves they made, counted them completely out of the upcoming season for not having a superstar player in that mix and moved on to talking about where Kevin Durant is going to end up next year or who the Lakers are going to fleece in a trade next or something about Boston or the Clippers or LeBron, etc.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
But didn't Howard want to go Hollywood, the movie opportunities and so on?
I remember him grinning broadly when he was introduced at the Lakers press conference after the trade. Only down note was Laker had to let some good players go and Odom expressed his displeasure.
Duncan never tested the market and he didn't stay in San Antonio, which is a small market, because he could earn the most there. At least in the last couple of contracts, he took less to stay there, so that they could pay for other good players.Comment

You really want to get in a pissing contest over these two teams at this point in time? You don't have enough liquids to consume for you to be able to keep up.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Not really. All of his examples are UFA's, Anthony Davis is a RFA. Not to mention the fact that Davis got the biggest contract in NBA history.
I concur with the thoughts in this thread though on how fit and situation matter more than market to NBA free agents nowadays.
Using an example of LeBron going to Miami but then he turns around and goes right back to Cleveland?Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Both teams sitting at home ringless after the season, you're either a winner or a loser, we're both losers in my book, you can puff your chest over a 3 seed if you want to though. Knicks fans are like Eminem at the end of 8 Mile, there's nothing you can tell us we don't already know.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
It's big $$ but he committed to playing in NO for 6 years, in today's NBA landscape that's huge. He said himself "This is an unbelievable amount $$ and it's the place I want to be. I didn't want to take a shorter deal and then have this conversation again in 2 years"
He loves the city, the organization, and helping the community. Hopefully other FAs feel the same way in the future

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Oh god, not the "big name players only want to go to big markets and not small markets" garbage argument again.
Money Melo is still a thing? Gotta let that go now lol
And Dwight's 1st and 2nd choices were to go play with Deron(first time ever that a superstar WANTED to play for the Nets)and the ONLY reason he ended up in LA was because of his own stupidity by being guilt trip'd into signing his ETO as opposed to letting his contract run out and then signing with us on his own.
Oh and Jason Kidd passed up SA to stay in NJ too, for those that say nobody wanted to play in Jersey. Although for the Spurs, that didn't hurt them in any way.#RespectTheCultureComment
