How much cap room does Deandre leaving give the Clippers, any at all?

If they could steal Jordan Hill from the Lakers, and get an athletic wing like Gerald Green or something they might be in pretty damn good shape.

So much of their offense already goes through CP3 and Blake, and now they have Pierce, all they really need from their big men is hustle plays and serviceable defense.

They could also consider trading away Crawford for a decent player, JJ would take his spot as a sixth man I would assume.. Though I expect Pierce to play off the bench and them start Lance at small forward. Even if they traded Crawford they could replace his value by signing Lou Williams, or get a poor mans version with someone like Mo Williams.

As for the Knicks, it seems as if a low post scorer has been what they are after. Surprised they haven't tried to pry away Kanter. For the price tag he's arguably a better cop that Brook Lopez would be. Hell in his 26 games with the Thunder last year he averaged 19 and 11. If the whole "triangle" thing ever actually works he would be tremendous on a team with good ball movement. He relied on WB to get him into his spots last year, but he was very effective on the p-n-r.

Kinda surprised neither the Lakers or Knicks have went after Koufos either, hell even the Clippers. Got to see quite a bit of him in Memphis and he's a lot more mobile than you would imagine by looking at him. He can actually play power forward, and did on numerous occasions for Memphis. He reminds me a little of Mozgov, he's quicker and more mobile though, but not quite the shot blocker or finisher Mozgov is.

Also, for how diminished his value is, Boozer might be a fairly good and cheap bench piece.

Clippers have no money, they only have half of the mid level which is like $2.5M that's why people are talking about a sign and trade for Hibbert as their only hope.

Amare wants more than the vet minimum which is what Doc offered him I believe.

We're all fine and dandy until someone wants to come in here playing bootleg analytics. Lets stick to signings and what they bring.
So you finally got called out so now it is imperative "to get back to the topic at hand". Weak sauce.

Liking the Knicks offseason so far but I don't know about that Derrick Williams signing. Glass half full I would say the dude is young, deal is short and not much money. Guess you gotta fill up that roster.

Weak sauce is bringing something up from the dead again that was yesterdays news.

OT- I don't think the Bucks are done dealing, yet. They have 4 big men on the roster, I'm sure one of them will be traded, maybe Plumlee? I can't see Henson or Zaza being traded. Maybe package Plumlee w/Payless.

Kings were really the only team interested in Rondo? I think he'll be fine in that up-tempo offense though.

At this point we need to sign a bunch of 1 year deals in FA. No point in signing multi year deals and mortgaging our future. Let the young guys play and let Kobe be Kobe.

But we don't have any future right now. We've tried going the one year deals route last year and it hurt us this year. At some point you have to sign role players instead of just chasing stars. Koufos has proven to be a quality big so there's no reason we shouldn't have signed him already. Byombo can't catch a cold sitting on an igloo in Alaska during an ice storm but he can block shots & rebound. Which is something we don't have on the roster. Are those franchise changing moves? No, but the are foundational moves where we cover certain areas of the game that most star players aren't interested in.

The fact Jim, Jeanie(yes she's been part of the problem ever since we didn't re-hire her boyfriend who wanted to be a part time coach) and Mitch can't see that is what is really unbelievable. But hey maybe next summer when Jeanie shows off her dad's rings and trophies it will work.

Nobody is making any moves at Kanter because he and OKC are still trying to get a 4 year deal done. Usually when you don't hear much about a guy teams know that he isn't even worth taking a shot at like Butler for example.

Kanter and Westbrook had some really nice chemistry offensively last year. Ibaka and Adams can help shore up Kanter's deficiencies on defense. Westbrook, Durant, Ibaka, and Kanter is scary offensively, though.

Upshaw can potentially be what Byombo is if not better. The future is NOW we have Russy, Clarkson, Randle, Upshaw(hopefully). I'm not saying that we need to get a star FA, but spending your cap on mid level guys just to do something hurts in the future. FA's not coming here until we start winning period.

We are years away from that point (2-3 years IMHO). Our 1st rounder next year is with PHI,though it's top 3 protected. While a guy like Koufos is a nice building block we need a different approach. For once we need to build our own core which all top teams have done(Warriors,Spurs,OKC). Pups need to play and start proving their worth then down the road we can attract a FA or two.
