Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
It's a $4 Mil difference from what he was offered before he got traded. Safe to say somebody would've paid him just based on "potential" alone, especially for teams that missed out the other big FAs this year.
Do not underestimate the stupidity of NBA GMs especially when you give them access to a lot of money to spend.
Agreed on the last part. NBA GM's are not smart. A lot of them at least.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

It's a 4 mil difference a year later when Jackson showed nothing this year to say he deserves that, let alone 4 million more. Nobody was offering Jackson this much. Looks like SVG bid against himself and overpaid.
Agreed on the last part. NBA GM's are not smart. A lot of them at least.
And who knows if someone else offered him anything else. My guess is probably no one because he was a RFA and everyone knew Detroit would match any deal he'd get from another team(because what was their alternative?)but if he were an UFA, it's safe to say he would've received some good offers from other teams because of that "potential".
And if you've been watching the NBA long enough, then you've seen it happen time after time after time.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 07-05-2015, 10:46 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I don't really see a huge problem with the Jackson signing. He's not a guy who's a great shooter but he's good enough that you can't leave him, and explosive enough that when you play up on him he blows past you. And he actually has experience playing off ball, and has shown to be a decent playmaker. Plays both ends at an above average level.
If Stan thinks he's a good fit then I believe him. He turned Nelson into an All Star playing along side Dwight, I figure he can do the same with Jackson and Drummond.
For what's it's worth his per 36 in Detroit last year was 20 and 10. If he would have started the year in Detroit and played starters minutes he would have been the only guard in the league to average 20 and 10.
Not really a bad move considering who else they could land a PG. Thrown a max at Dragic, trade for D Williams? Spend the same amount for Rondo?.. I don't see how this is really a bad move. Besides as Pack said its only like 4mil more, under the new cap it would practically be a wash.

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
lol,I'm always gonna be obsessing over that till they get one. Like I mentioned just now,Faried I'd favor more specifically cause of his contract(one that years and salary wise, would be good for them to have, especially seeing how starters now will be getting 15M+), Morris I'd like too for his contract, but don't know the extent of his legal issue(s?).Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
To be fair, Miami didn't really have a choice with Dragic. They couldn't just let him go after trading two future firsts to get him. They tried offering him a smaller contract and he didn't want it. So their only choices at that point, were to pay him for what he wanted or let him leave for nothing.

Man, Alec Burks' contract is looking better and better after all the money similar caliber guys are getting. Not to mention Favors' bargain of a contract. Even Hayward's is looking pretty damn good in comparison to contracts signed this offseason.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Just wait until next offseason when every team will have cap space. These contracts are gonna look even better then.
