With Aldridge likely leaving Portland for another WC team and if say Gasol left Memphis, that would likely open 2 spots in the playoffs as Portland and Memphis would likely fall out. Plug OKC back in and there's room for a new team. I don't see any other WC team falling out of the playoff picture at this point, which is still very early. You'd expect NO to improve but I wouldn't consider them a lock at this point.

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
All signs point to him leaving and a story just posted that they're worried he is going to leave. According to Marc Stein, SA is the favorite to land him and LAL may have passed Dallas for #2 on his list.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I'm sorry, but to be frank...
Anyone that is worried about giving up Randle, Clarkson and the pick for Cousins as too much is absolutely insane. He's the best center in the league and he's 24 (!!) years old and he has 3 (!!!) years left on his deal to build around him.
He has attitude problems, but at the same time he is an insanely talented and gifted player who really, truly gives a ****.
I mean, really? Julius Randle?? A 6'8" 4 who doesn't project as an above average defender and can't shoot? Who missed his entire rookie year?
Jordan ****ing Clarkson??? A combo guard who put up decent numbers on a horrendous team as a 22 year old rookie? There are Jordan Clarksons all over the league. You realize he is ONE year younger than DeMarcus?
Yeah, the #2 pick is a big thing to give up. But even then, who are you drafting? If Okafor reaches his maximum potential (which is faaaar from a guarantee) then you know what he ends up as? Demarcus ****in Cousins.
You guys are nuts. I don't understand.

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Okafor + Randle + Clarkson + CAP SPACE is pretty good too. Theses rookies contract give you a lot of flexibility. It's not like Cousins will turn the team into a contender or even a playoff contender. Lakers should embrace the rebuild.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Yea i agree, if we trade thise guys for cousins we basically moved him from sacto to another sacto. We dont get any better at all really. We at best make a lateral move.Lakers

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I mean, they could trade for Cousins, sign a max guy, and STILL have 30+ million in cap space for 2016.
And not only that, but a roster with, again, a 24 year old who is the best center in the league, is immensely more attractive to these potential free agents than a bunch of young unproven guys.
There is not a single way you can convince me the Lakers would be better off not pulling the trigger on that deal. They're giving up cap space? To pay Cousins 15/16/17 million over the next three years? Roy Hibbert is getting 15 mil next year! You guys are delusional.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Is cousins the guy you want to build around though ? Is he attractive to other free agents ? I'am not saying it's a bad move but if you don't make that deal you're still in a good spot and if Okafor and Randle turns out to be good NBA players in 2016 you still have them and 3 max slots.Comment

Regardless of what you think of their current situation with the young guys, there is no question they'd be in a better spot making that deal. So if they turn that deal down because they feel like they're giving up too much, that's total nonsense. And for people to say "I'm not comfortable giving up Randle/Clarkson/the pick for him" is also, total nonsense.
Lakers fans are being gifted potentially the best center of his generation and are complaining they'd have to give up too much for him. Lmao.
