    re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread

Miami needs to dump McRobert's contract first to legitimately have a chance at re-signing Whiteside and Wade. Even then, Wade would have to take some sort of a pay cut in order to have room to build a decent roster (i.e., resign Deng, Johnson, etc.)

In other news, I'd like to see Pau sign with the Grizzlies and pair with Marc as opposed to joining with the Spurs

Provided the salary cap is 92 million as expected this summer and they don't re-sign Joakim and Pau as expected they're looking at about 18 million in cap space.

David Blatt met with New York president Phil Jackson about Knicks' coaching job on Monday, league sources tell @TheVertical.

I think Blatt would definitely fit the Knicks better than he did with Cleveland. He didn't deserve getting kicked to the curb the way he was just because of "high highness" King James.

Phil has really got to stop with that triangle mess. If you want the team to run the triangle, get your *** down there on the bench and coach the team. If you're not going to coach the team then do your job and put the talent on the floor for the coach you hire to run THEIR system. It's ridiculous for the GM of a team to be trying to do tact the system the coach runs.

New York and their media arent necessarily going to be a breath of fresh air for him, lol

That's what they do in HOU

I agree with you though, makes no sense.

True but I actually like Blatt. I think he's going to end up being a really good NBA coach. It's a shame his rep got tainted because his first stop was an impossible situation for him.

I agree, I think he'll make a very good NBA coach with time. Hopefully wherever his next stop is ends up being a great fit.

                            Per ProBasketballTalk

Wednesday night, Luke Walton was standing at center court at Oracle Arena, getting credit from Steve Kerr as the latter accepted his Coach of the Year award.

In the next couple days, Walton could be sitting down with Lakers’ brass talking about their coaching opening.

Kerr said Golden State has given Los Angeles permission to speak with Walton, reports Michael Lee of The Vertical at Yahoo Sports.

The Los Angeles Lakers have requested and received permission to speak with Golden State assistant Luke Walton about their head-coaching position, Warriors Coach Steve Kerr said Wednesday. Kerr added that Walton will speak with the Lakers once the team completes its first-round series with the Houston Rockets.

Walton is the guy at the top of the Lakers’ wish list. That list looks something like Walton, Spurs assistant Ettore Messina, Walton, UConn coach Kevin Ollie, Jeff Van Gundy, Walton, David Blatt, and Walton.

The Lakers want a guy who can both recruit free agents, plus form a strong relationship with and develop the tea’s young stars. Walton is liked around the league and at age 36 is younger and can relate to younger players better than old-school Byron Scott.

The question is does he want the job? Put another way, are the Lakers going to give him the money and years it will take to pry him away from Stephen Curry and the small ball revolution? He’s going to want to get PAID and have some security before he makes any move.

Am I the only one who would find it weird if coachs didn't give permission to let there staff get interviews lol.

It looks like it will be Walton or Messina. Happy to see things falling in place. Next step will be to get the top pick. (Wich is happening btw)
