How would his Father have influenced him from an X and O's standpoint? Not sure I follow you on that one.

In spite of the goofiness throughout the years Bill Walton knows his stuff and that should be filtered on down to the son.

While I agree that young players don't necessarily need young coaches it doesn't hurt that Luke is young enough in mentality and age to "get" the players of today and how to handle them as people as well as pieces on the board in drawing up game plans. If given time and patience I think Luke Walton can be a at worst a serviceable head coach in this league.
I agree I do believe at least this team needs someone connected to the old and young to relate and to transition them to the next level

Keep the ball and bodies moving. Luke was an excellent passer and read the court like an ABC primer. Just like Bill did. Both were/are total winners.

Because of the sheer number of fans that the Lakers have there are always going to be a very large number of people that will simply melt down over L's without any analysis of the type of basketball being played. They are of no consequence.

But seeing where he's coming from, of course idiots are going to overreact as opposed to giving him time, like folks should. But unfortunately, we live in an instant gratification society now so people rather throw out #hottakes.
Yep, it can't be helped, but they'll be shouted down, if a solid basketball identity is established and growth and development is clearly happening.

There needs to be a purge of any players who can't adapt to this way of playing. All ball stoppers must go.

I bet his excellent screen setting abilities should be a huge factor in his coaching ability as well.

You set good screens and you get good shots.

                Agreed.

Hopefully he teaches them to make effective use of the pump fake, seeing as how he had one of the best in the league during his playing days.

Although it seems like you're being quasi-facetious with these posts, this squad is in desperate need of being taught all the fundamentals of playing basketball, big and small.

If Julius Randle is going to be anything at all that dude needs to learn how to shoot a jumpshot.

He can't be a one handed dribbling bowling ball. That's going to get him caught up soon

He's been able to put up some numbers despite the fact that he really doesn't know how to play. Walton, a cerebral forward, should help him a lot. I hope he still works with Big Game James to continue to refine his game from 10 ft in though.

Julius said he's gonna work hard on his game this summer. He realises he has huge flaws in his game but wants to be great. But I have a feeling he might not be here next season unfortunately.

Trust me that won't matter soon enough. That's worse than an iso only player. He goes into the playoffs like that he'd get exposed hard.

Bill Walton also had the good fortune to be coached by and play with some of the smartest and cerebral players/coaches in NBA history.

Nets hire Jacque Vaughn as lead assistant coach on Kenny Atkinson's staff, per Woj.

Yeah, the 77 Blazers and 86 Celtics were memorable teams. Walton was a key man on both and a truly great player in his own right.
