Ya, KG,Willis,Parish were all tied at 21.

I think Dirk is the next closest guy in the NBA to that and he's now at 19.

Silver has some nerve acting like the league doesn't benefit from super teams.

Perhaps he's forgetting how Mozgov should be thanking LeBron and the Miami Heat for his new contract.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

        re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread

It's funny how suddenly now there's a problem with it. NBA didn't seem to care when Lakers,Celtics,Lebron and others had stars teaming up. But when a smaller market like GSW does it, suddenly it's a problem.

Just too bad that NBA won't ever be like other sports in terms of parity. It's a superstar league, and will always be like that. Manning, one of best QB ever in the NFL, and look at his struggles to get SB wins. Crosby is considered the best player in the NHL, and only just won his 2nd cup. Cabrera/Kershaw considered 2 of the best players of the past decade in baseball, and aside from Cabreras 1WS win in his rookie season(when he wasn't even a notable part of the team), nothing else won.

But in NBA, like that stat from a few weeks ago stated, something like 95% of teams who've won the NBA championship the past 35-40 years, have all had MVPs on their team.

Sure, from an outsiders perspective, it would be cool to see the superstar battles in big series. But from a fans perspective, its kind of demoralizing at times knowing your team with no MVP caliber player, has a shot at a championship.

They should make a rule in that if you finish with a top 5 record, you can only sign 6th men and scrubs.

And if you win 60 games or more, you're banned from signing FA for 1 year.

That'll stop all these super teams from forming again!

People will watch super teams on TV just to see them lose.
People will show up to arenas to watch super teams mop up their local home team.
Baseball/hockey/football lovers will go out and buy merchandise of their new favorite bandwagon super team.

Let's not act like people who didn't even follow basketball hated the Heatles because of LeBron's Decision.

Silver is just toeing the line trying to show that he cares for the smaller market owners.

Meanwhile he's raking in the dough hand over foot each and every successive year.

Kobe called that a month before it happened,” Durant told Yahoo! Sports while promoting his new movie “Thunderstruck.”

“I didn’t believe him. He was just like, ‘We are going to have Dwight. We are going to have Steve Nash.’ He just talks a lot of trash, jokes and laughs. But he said it. I don’t think anyone paid attention to it but me and him. He said it and it happened. And they got better, a lot better.”

Silver lying out his *** that it's bad for the league. Half the people will bandwagon the **** out of them, the half half hate them. Both ways it's getting publicity and making the league more money.

For the people questioning the whole "teaming up" thing.. If you really can't see why someone would look at THIS situation different then Lord bless your blind eyes.

Technically players leaving, getting traded, ring chasing, that's all happened.. A team making 2 straight finals, winning 73 games, adding a top 3 player in the league has never happened.. Especially when a guy already on your team is also considered in that top 3. Two MVP's, two scoring champions, 4 All Star, 4 All-NBA teamers, 4 top 15 players in the league, none of them over the hill or declining, all in their prime and perhaps improving still..

If you really can't see the unique-ness in this situation and why some people might view it differently then it's pointless for you to even debate about it. You're blind, out of the loop, lost.

KG in the locker room around all of those young players will probably be more valuable than anything he does on the floor.

I'm pretty sure they'll end up selling him a piece of the team when he retires. 8 years off from 30(average persons work on a regular job) years in the NBA. That's insane!

I wanna argue this so bad but for the sake of not rehashing the same arguments just to end up going in one big circle, I'll pass.

But I will point out the irony and hypocrisy in regards to some of things mentioned though.

OKC was put in a bad position by the cap increase because obviously KD would have benefited from waiting to sign in the offseason instead of extending last season. Normally, if a player won't extend, then it's much easier to get trade them, but waiting kind of screwed them. Hopefully, they learned from that and get something for RWB rather than just letting him walk.

Regarding OKC and Harden, I read this on reddit last week and found it to be very interesting. *spoilered for length

The league did have an issue with LeBron and it was a point of discussion during the 2011 lockout but all we got was some lame luxury tax nonsense. The Lakers & Celtics aren't comparable IMO.

Bottom line is that the league will go on. The league isn't in danger. I doubt we'll ever go through an era like the early aughts where it was a perfect cocktail of negatives that caused the ratings to plummet for an extended period. This money train will keep on chugging.
