Westbrook can become a 10 year vet with this deal which makes him eligible for the big people max. That's all this is about."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
So it's a done deal, gets to 10, stays in OKC, he the main attraction now. Good for him.
I can already see the espn hot takes on Durant leaving to a stacked team vs Russ sticking it out with the Thunder narratives that are bout to be shoved down our throats.Comment

Re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Highlighted by all the hottest takers ignoring their previous takes about KD leaving because he KNEW Westbrook was leaving, and substituting the newest ridiculous statement they can think of to again distract everyone from how wrong their previous takes were, and focus on how incredible the current take is, and somehow some way spinning it all in way that shows they were right all along. Rinse repeat.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
I can't see OKC making the playoffs unless Oladipo somehow develops a consistent perimeter shot.
There's Batman and no Robin. And I don't think Billy Donovan has the balls to reign in Westbrook from averaging 25+ FGAs/game.
I'm really looking forward to Westbrook & Payne tearing it up pre game since that'll be the most excitement for OKC games.Comment

Re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
$85M over 3 years seems rather low considering the type of deals being thrown out recently.
Nonetheless, OKC fans must be rejoicing!Comment

Re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Happy for Russ, glad he got what he wanted. Wish what he wanted was something else...but what can you do?
Not happy that it's OKC, or that the first thing that came to mind when I read King's comment was "More or less of a God than when Durant signed his Twitter extension?" Those fans don't care, they're not going to remember this if he leaves. They won't care. Theyll act like he did them wrong just like they did with KD.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Two things.
One is no chance in hell he came up with that meme, but well done either way.
Two being that (speaking for myself) I didn't want Russ coming via trade for sure. I like our young core and want to see them develop & grow. Now I did say if he were to come as a FA I'd have been cool with it. But it certainly doesn't make me Jordan Crying Face to see this news.
Like I said, good for him.Comment
