    Oh I agree.

Those will be the same people that think Blood Clots can be treated by just taking some Treatments and Medicine and then they're all gone.

Meanwhile, if they were to let him play and he drops dead on the floor, how many of those people are going to feel bad for Riley? Not a single one of them.

      Re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread

The article being referenced isn't about the Heat holding Bosh out to protect his health, it's about them waiting until March to waive him so that they can have cap relief and so that if he's picked up by another team and cleared he won't be eligible to play in the playoffs.

Nothing in that article is for the benefit of Bosh. And I'm not saying Pat is wrong, he's doing his job, but there is nothing in the article that is being done for the benefit of Chris Bosh.

I'm speaking on the situation in general.

He still hasn't been cleared yet and it's looking like it won't happen anytime soon anyway and if he can't get cleared by anyone then it wouldn't really matter when he's waived anyway. It's always easy to say you will/won't do something 6-8 months out like what Riley is doing, lol.

Oh I agree. The weird thing for me in this whole situation is what are the chances Bosh gets cleared? I guess we'll find out when he gets waived, but is this a Daniel Bryan situation where certain doctors say this is possible but Heat doctors say it isn't? Doesn't really matter either way I guess, the liability to the Heat is too big to be playing with it.

There's no bad guy, there's just 2 sides of a bad situation and some people will pick one. Like you said, if Bosh goes out there and drops dead in the paint, the same people who were mad at Pat for "holding him down" are going to be mad for not protecting him, it's just a shame this is so public and messy. The thing is, if Bosh was healthy, it would be a non issue, it wouldnt make any sense for the Rat to withhold him and he'd be playing. So for people who think this is Pat's fault, are they implying that Bosh is healthy and for some reason Pat has decided to just try to amnesty his deal? It's beyond a leap.

You're not gonna find me caping for the Rat though, he can put out his own fires. I doubt he cares anyway, he seems like the type of dude who searches his name on Twitter and reads all the insults as motivation.

It's a lose-lose for Riley. Either force your best player to retire early by not letting him play with a severe life-threatening condition, or let him play and risk him dying on the floor due to a severe life-threatening condition.

All that being said, Bosh is a grown man and can decide if he wants to keep pushing this. Of course, he'll have to get cleared by doctors, but I'm sure there is a team around the league that has a medical staff that believes it's possibly that he can still play without a chance of dying in the middle of a game.

Like said, Bosh is a grown man, he can make his own decisions, but I just don't get it. If this is me I'm leaving well enough alone. Dude has had a great career. You've got two rings, multiple all-stars and all the money in the world. No reason to be risking your life at this point.

He's done treatment twice and both times the issue came back. Why keep trying to cheat death with something like this?

I'm with you guys on this but I feel like it's something that's a lot easier to type than it is to actually do.

Imagine being told, at 31, that your life's work, literally the only thing you've ever done, is over. And you still FEEL physically fine.

I don't think he'll ever play again and, eventually, he'll come around but I don't fault him for struggling to come to grips with it.

I'd rather lose my life's work than my life, especially when you've got all the spoils of your labor still coming. But as of now I guess it's all talk, he's just doing his due diligence in a way to make sure all of his bases are covered. He hasn't really done anything crazy until he steps back on the court.

I guess my thing is with this whole Bosh situation is at least allow him to find a team that would be willing to play him. Whether it's through trade or a buyout. For as much as I read about it being about Bosh's health, the Heat seem like they are more than happy to wait this out until his contract isn't their responsibility anymore.

The way they handled Wade, this screams financial decision above anything else.

They want to get younger and want to clear cap space to make another big splash next summer. Pat ain't a dummy. An opportunity presented itself and they are exploiting it. They are going to keep him on the roster until after March 1 when one, Bosh's cap hit will disappear if another team signs him and two, will not be able to play in the playoffs.

Hey, it is just a business right?

Why wouldn't they though? Are y'all suggesting they should just eat the money against their cap even when he can't play? That's terrible from a business standpoint and a team standpoint.

I just told you why lol

They are paying him this year one way or another. Why wouldn't they retain him and take the chance to have his salary expunged from their cap sheet after March 1? Pat ain't worried about this year, he is concerned with next summer and being able to make a run at a big name. Doing that allows them the flexibility to do so.

And if Bosh makes a miraculous turn for the better and he ends up playing his 25th game in the 17-18 season, the Heat will have his salary back AFTER they have a chance to use that max slot. Riley is willing to take the risk of going into Luxury Tax hell to get that short-term cap relief for a quick reboot on the fly instead of a total rebuild/tank and being in limbo with Bosh until his contract expires. This is a business and sometimes feelings get hurt...Riley is doing what's best for the Heat.
