But if Bosh were to play 25 games this year the Heat wouldn't have that space.. so why would they let him go and risk it? Lose your best player, and on top of that eat the money so you can't replace him? That's a lose-lose.

      Durant\ Westbrook.....

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook had a simple response when asked about Kevin Durant's recent comments lauding the Golden State Warriors for their "selfless" environment.

      "That's cute," Westbrook said. "Cute."

Durant was asked earlier this week why he chose the Warriors during free agency.

"I feel really grateful to play for a team like that and play with a bunch of players who are selfless and enjoy the game in its purest form," Durant said. "They make it about the players, they make it about the environment, so it was really an easy choice."

Westbrook, after being read Durant's answer verbatim at shootaround on Thursday, was asked whether he felt like it was a shot at him or the Thunder organization.

"But my job is to worry about what's going on here," Westbrook said. "We're going to worry about all the selfish guys we have over here apparently. So we're going to figure that out."

Theyve been trying to start a fight between those two all summer.

One thing for sure i remember durant early on used to say im not doing this photoshoot without my teammates or i dont want to do it without my teammates, so i believe his comments are genuine.

Why cant he just compliment the Ws without it being a thunder diss?

Because they need to manufacture drama.

          Sad but oh well.

Basically what this is. They're pretty blatant about it too.

              From ProBasketballTalk...

There are conditions that must be met first:

Bosh can’t play through Feb. 9 (and longer if the Heat keep him longer).
A doctor jointly selected by the league and union must rule Bosh “has an injury or illness that (i) prevents him from playing skilled professional basketball at an NBA level for the duration of his career, or (ii) substantially impairs his ability to play skilled professional basketball at an NBA level and is of such severity that continuing to play professional basketball at an NBA level would subject the player to medically unacceptable risk of suffering a life-threatening or permanently disabling injury or illness.”
If either falls through, the Heat would no longer be able to remove Bosh’s salary from their cap. Miami obviously holds the cards on whether Bosh plays. But given his continued proclamations that he can still play, there are still real questions how that jointly selected doctor would rule.

But let’s just say the doctor rules in the Heat’s favor. They should wait a few extra days to waive him. If Bosh proves the doctor wrong and plays 25 games (regular season and playoffs both count) for another team, his salary would be re-applied to Miami’s books. Though no team has more than 24 games in March and April, Bosh doesn’t have to play for only one team. He could theoretically sign 10-day contracts with different teams, working the schedule to maximize his number of games played. (Though if the jointly selected doctor deems it unsafe for him to play, will other teams really sign and play him?)

There’s always the possibility Bosh plays 25 games in 2017-18 and beyond, but the key for the Heat is removing his salary from the cap next summer. They could use that cap space before Bosh’s salary is potentially re-applied. The unfortunate consequence of this rule is holding Bosh hostage most of this season.

Yep. It's why I don't pay attention and I kind of feel that Westbrook feels the same way. He flat out said he's tired of talking about it and if he gets asked again he's not going to answer any questions.

Durant hasn't said anything spiteful to the Thunder. He's out there complimenting his new team because that's what Durant does. The Media is making a tired attempt.

                  I don't know, maybe I'm a sucker.

Durant spent 9 years playing with a high usage, bricktastic PG and one of the first things he says when he gets to a new team is, "Its nice to play with so many selfless players." I don't think it's unfair to connect those dots. He's an adult, he knew what he was saying.

So if a FA goes to a new team and at his PC, he says "Man it's so great to be here and to join a great organization like this" is that considered a diss at their last team or would it depend on the context?

If it's the latter, then wouldn't that apply to that KD's statement as well?

Athletes be like "Good Morning World" and Media/Fans be like "Uh oh, he trying to say yesterday morning wasn't good????"

Nah, but the particular phrasing and the word "selfless" felt like a shot to me given Russ' style of play and the frequent criticism he's received for being a ball hog.

Isn't that something the media hyped? So it's actually no surprise to me they would take it that way.

Durant could be dissing his old squad but at the same time, he's only parroting what everyone says about Golden State already.

It's only an issue because the media drives the Thunder weren't selfless but Golden State is narrative. So he repeats the second part and they automatically assume the first is implied.

Or maybe Westbrook thought it was "cute" that the media is trying to make a story there. Frankly, I'd be tired off this too. Durant isn't on the Thunder anymore and the two are now playing against each other. Get over it.
