Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
lol. You (I think it was you) made the perfect comparison to another Tarheel earlier, coming out of school too early.
Yeah benching him entirely is foolish but to be fair, you expect a lot more out of your MAX player than the 9/6 on 37% shooting that he's providing.
His situation is kind of fascinating. He works just fine in his role on the Cavs against 28 other teams in the league. But the one he doesn't just happens to be the champs. So it's like...do you get rid of a guy that can help you against 97% of the league but not the outlier 3%? But that outlier is likely the team you have to beat to win it all...very interesting dilemma, not sure if we've seen anything like it before.
But there's also the "Bosh effect" where his two ball dominant teammates are going off, and everyone else is left to get in wherever they can fit in. He stands out bc he's a max player but when you've got 2 guys going isoball for the most part, your chances to do much offensively are limited. Since his role is to hover around the 3 point line more than anything, his rebounding chances are limited too.
Assuming the core 3 are still there next year, Lue needs to develop different game plans for different rotations and should put emphasis on getting the ball to Love in the paint in certain situations.Comment

Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
Meh the offensive rebound thing isn't all that accurate though. He's never been a great offensive rebounder so that's not really hurting him any. He played outside a lot in Minny too, shooting 5-6 threes a night and getting a lot of his stuff of the P-n-R.
Loves problem is when the post him he isn't finishing.. So what else can you do?
He's looked off this series in particular though.

The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
Eh... even taking that out, playing with 2 ball dominant stars is going to hurt, and I do believe he's still dealing with concussion issues. I don't like him on Cleveland but he's much better (even for them) than people that only started watching the NBA during the finals are giving him credit for.
Yeah he's been great up until this series honestly. I think it could be bothering him as well, because this last game he just didn't look himself in any part of the game. Doesn't help that this team just poses match up problems for him either.
I'm hoping game 6 is his statement game. I see GS closing it out, but I'd love for a game 7.

Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
Love is definitely lingering from the concussion but it's probably not that as much as it is LeBron/Kyrie just went off last game and no one other than those two ever got into a rhythm. At the same time though, old man Jefferson outplayed him in half the minutes. I've said it a lot and I'll say it again, Jefferson is a much better matchup for these Warriors than Love is. I think that will be very evident next game with the return of Draymond and them likely going small much more often.Comment

Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
but nah, Love is a good player and I'm rooting for him with all the negativity that's come his way...
Point and rebound total notwithstanding....just the effort plays...can't let Curry box you out for rebounds...jusy focus on that and he'll be fine. May be some truth to what wwharton is saying about the concussion too..Comment

So you pretty much mean what he did game 5, except with his jersey on....

Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
If he's still feeling the effects of the concussion, then he shouldn't be playing at all, especially with how serious they're taken now.
And if it comes out that he wasn't 100% cleared(chances are we'll hear about it after the season)then I guarantee there's going to be some changes to their Concussion protocol in the offseason.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
You just don't want him in Cleveland...because it's Cleveland as you say lol
but inbetween the cracks of the jokes and the fake high five gate articles there are some good blurbs of his teamates supporting him....which is the important thing...
Don't know what his future is, but if they'll definitely have to decide what they want to do at he end of the season...too much talent thereComment

But the fear is that bc it worked last game James and Kyrie will go iso crazy again in game 6 and the fate of the team will be in their hands. Of course, if the Cavs lose it will be Love who gets blamed though, bc he's a max player.

I wouldn't say that makes him a better match up overall though. He's better out there with the offense they ran, if we want to call it an offense. But I'd rather create situations for Love to show his strengths than situations for Jefferson to show his strengths. It's too late for that now though.Comment

Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
Steve Nash scored 0 PPG in the Finals as an MVP 2 years in a row lol, this stat is meaningless.
Also I found that thread on Reddit and someone in there posted that LeBron averaged 8.9 less than his regular season averages in the 2011 Finals he just wasn't MVP. This is a very specific set of circumstances to fill even if it doesn't seem that way.Comment

Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
Jefferson is a wing player so it's more likely he'll drive and have more chances than a PF on the wing like Love when James/Kyrie are going isoball. He also runs the break.

And the advanced ORTG and DRTG numbers still support Jefferson with the starters. This series they have 39 minutes together and a net 18.2 rating versus the Love lineup has 59 minutes and only a net 0.3 rating. One of the keys is they've been a better rebounding team with LeBron at the 4. Another key has been T Thompson's PnR defense on Curry has been excellent and Curry hasn't been able to get by him. If you ran LeBron at the 4 with Love at the 5, that'd spell disaster.
The flow of the game will determine how much Love plays, but my prediction is GS going death lineup early and depending how that goes with Love in there, I expect Jefferson to play more minutes than he did last game. After all, he is older and they probably wanted to limit his minutes so he wouldn't be worn out for Games 6 and 7.Comment

Re: The Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden St. Warriors Part 2
Per Cavs twitter, Cavs will wear their white jerseys and the crowd will be a black-out. It's a small detail but that's got me stoked!
Also since I know how much you guys love random stats, if the Cavs force Game 7, expect them to wear the sleeves again because apparently they are 5-1 this year in those jerseys, including 5-0 when LeBron plays. I read that he's the one who opted for those jerseys last game because of that stat. Superstition!Comment
