PP performed at a high level with or without good teamates, or stability in a system. Could Kirelenko? Tim Duncan, Shaq, KG...these guys are DOMINANT on both sides of the floor, in any sysytem..on any team, with any coach, with any teammates. Would AK-47 still have the energy to help on EVERY possession if he was DEPENDED ON to score 25+ through double-teams and triple teams? Kirelenko is an average scorer and a pesky defender but don't mistake a ton of blocks as being a dominant ball defender ala Artest. Sloan himself says he doesn't really like how AK lets his man get by to get the weakside block. If Kobe did that, this site would be on fire with stat-whore rants.
Uh, when did Paul Pierce become dominant on both sides of the floor? I'm not saying Kirilinko is better then TD, KG, or Shaq... I'm saying he's the best SF in the league right now...

Yes, Kirilinko could score 25+ points on a horrible team. If you shoot enough, you can score in bunches. Does he have to score 25 right now to win games? No.

Kirelenko is a top 10-15 player, and he may be the number one role-filler in the league, as he can do a ton of little things well...But when judging an elite player, ask yourself...could he carry the Bobcats into respectability? TD could, Shaq could, KG could, Kidd could...Those guys are your 10's.
Once again, Kirilinko is not Tim Duncan, Shaq or Jason Kidd... but he's darn close...

A lineup of Jason Hart, Gerald Wallace, Andrei Kirilinko, Emeka Okafor and Primoz Brezec would get into the playoffs in the East. That is respectable.

and please give us a little credit...we all know how important hustle play is. The "Oh, this era is all about flash so most guys just don't appreciate the little things" cliche is lame.
I'm not talking about hustle play. I'm talking about the little things that Kirilinko does that Paul Pierce, Ron Artest, Shawn Marion, and Peja Stojakavich do not do that go unappreaciated, as you can tell by your statbook basketball knowledge.

              Nah...

Anyone who says Kirilenko is anywhere near TD or KG level, after 5 games of around 17 pts, then says that I don't know basketball, gets filed under TSTAW...."Too Stupid To Argue With"

Side note..If Artest smothers his man, and forces him to pass or turn the ball over...thats considered a "stop"...If AK-47 lets his man go by, only to poke away his shot...thats considered a "block"... whats the difference?

There is no stat for "stops".

                  I thought you gave up?

Oh yeah, Shaq is averaging 16 ppg after 4 games. His team is 4-0....

To rephrase what you told me:
"Anyone who says that Shaq is anywhere near TD or KG level, after 4 games of around 17 pts, then says that I don't know basketball, gets filed under TSTAW...."Too Stupid To Argue With"

And what is your point about Ron Artest and stops? Sure, Ron Artest can lock a man down, but he's not the help defender Kirilenko is...

                  Ahh, I'm done with it...
                  Just to recap:
                  HMcCoy says:
Kirilenko would be an elite level player if he was better at offense.

                  Brankles says:
Kirilenko is good at offense, but doesn't need to score in Utah. His defense changes games.

Both are good points, and I respect where you're coming from. No harm meant about the "statbook basketball knowledge"...

I love having debates like this, especially with somebody that can come right back at ya...

Should I count all of the 10s that were given to AK-47? Only one person (i think) openly came out and said that he gave him a 10, so if I ignore the other 10s (due to lack of explanation) and that one 5, his score comes out to be an 8.53 (higher than JKidd and Big Ben). But if I count ALL of the votes, he gets an 8.61 (higher than all players, even PP).'

So, do you think AK is better than PP?
