"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
None of you have proven Steph as a worthy defender. All I know is he avoids checking the opposing point guard and when he does they usually score.

And it wasn't the Toronto media reporting it. It was Basketball Insiders(Eric Pincus who is also Lakers writer at Bleacher Report)Comment

One of the biggest keys to the Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals the Cavaliers winning the 2016 championship was how they put Stephen Curry through the ringer on defense
Meanwhile, here's what I found and read after typing in "is stephen curry a good defender":
The seven moves Stephen Curry mastered to become one of the top point guard defenders in the league.

^This link does as well

^This one as well
At the end of the day, we can go on and on regarding his Defense but the notion that Curry is a bad defender and is not a good one, is just not true nor is it accurate at all.
Couldn't find anything like that on Google. Not that it's true either way, which I'm sure you know.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 07-27-2017, 04:21 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Cavs exploited Curry by forcing switches onto Lebron.
But that was just the last couple of games.
Kerr admitted they didn't adjust to it and said they had plans to adjust to it.
Game 1, Cavs try it and Curry did the hard hedge on Lebron, keeping him from penetrating, and then ran back to the guy who screened while the primary defender who'd been screened switched back to Lebron.
After a couple of times, the Cavs didn't try any more.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Regarding Carroll, it's a contract that Ujiri pretty much regrets but he cut bait when he had to rather than hoping he'd turn things around. I do remember when he first came to Toronto he was dubbed as the great "D and 3 guy who would be the Lebron Stopper". It obviously didn't turn out that way. His career here never really got going. I think most people in this market are glad to see him gone and he's gonna get booed out of the building when the Nets come to Toronto this year. That is, if he's healthyMember of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
