If I’m Phoenix or Sac I would trade the 1 or 2 for Tatum.

I also think anyone 4-6 wouldn’t at least consider a Rozier + picks deal. Don’t they have a likely top 5 pick next season as well? If they can just set their pick back a season and gain Rozier why wouldn’t they.

There’s a possibility that Memphis would be willing to give up the 4th pick for Rozier and the 2019 Kings pick but only if they plan to tear the team down and start the rebuild. Not sure where Memphis stands on that though. More than likely if the Celtics want to move up that high though it’s going to cost them. I really think it will cost them Brown and the Kings 2019 pick if they want to move up to 4 or 5.

John Beilein, who has twice led Michigan to the NCAA national title game, has interviewed with the Pistons and has long been intrigued with coaching in the NBA, sources told ESPN.

This would be an interesting hire for sure!

                  Re: 2017-2018 Off-Season Thread

It's nice to see some Pistons talk in the main thread! Of course, it's about the house-cleaning in the front-office, but still....

I think whoever coaches the Pistons next is largely irrelevant, since I'd be very surprised if that person were the coach in 2-3 years' time. The next head coach is just keeping the seat warm. The Pistons are doing absolutely nothing in the next 3-4 years given their lack of cap space, completely immoveable contracts, lack of draft picks, and general dearth of useful assets.

The best thing they can do is go hire Sam Hinkie or someone of his ilk to admit that the next 3-4 years are DOA seasons anyway, and more importantly signal to the fan base that they can safely go away for the next half-decade so we can bottom out in peace. We have no other option at this point.

Anyway, that's the sorry state of affairs the 'Stones find themselves in (yet again). The SVG era was a complete and total waste of time, and we're left in worse position in many ways than before he came. If anyone's up for some more detailed 'Stones chat, come find us in the team-specific thread! It's pretty lonely in there...

If the rumors are true the Nuggets will look to trade the 14th pick if you take on Faried's contract the hawks need to quickly make the move before someone else does. He only has one year remaining and we can offer the 30th or 34th pick seems like a win win if they are trying to avoid the luxury tax.

If that's true, if I'm the Bulls I'd jump on that. You can get the 14th pick, give them the 22nd, then if they want they could package 7 and 14 to move up. They could package 7 and a player, they could put Faried's expiring and one or both of those picks. Of course all those options are exactly why they would never do it, but man I'd be all over that if I were GarPax

I heard it on the ringer podcast they said woj mentioned it somewhere and having to pay a new deal to Jokic was the reason.

Hawks and Bulls - Both teams make the most sense with both of them having a lower pick they can offer.

Suns - already have a pick in that range and a lot of young players on the roster

Kings - wouldn't have the lower 1st to offer

Dallas - They prob hold out for the chance for a FA

76ers or Lakers wouldn't do it

14th pick is just a little too far back to get anything decent for that. You basically just have to find a team that wants an expiring contract. Off the top of my head I can't even think of a team that would really benefit from adding Faried right now.

I can very easily think of one team that would benefit just from the pick and that alone is worth one year of dealing with his salary, which can be taken care of in other ways GMs have at their disposal.

I don't know man, I think you can still find some decent guys at 14 before the talent starts to drop off. Certainly better than what you'll find at 22 for the Bulls and 30 or 34 as GeorgiaFan mentioned for the Hawks. Besides that, I can't speak for the Hawks, but for the Bulls we have the space to absorb that Faried salary without giving anything up but the pick and then if you keep him on the roster for the season that's $28,121,795 million dollars coming off the books for next summer's free agent class with Faried and Robin Lopez's expiring deals. There's pretty much no downside to making that move if you're the Bulls.

                                Re: 2017-2018 Off-Season Thread

From the Hawks side its a no brainer to make this deal as it appears like it a forgone conclusion the cap space we have will be used to take on a bad contract instead of signing a FA. Hawks should have around 29 million in cap space and currently have picks 3,19, 30 and 34 also the cavs pick next year which is like top 10 protected.

You trade one of the picks in the 30's and with your two mid 1st you can swing for upside with one pick and nab a bench guy with the other. If someone wants to trade down in the top 10 you can easily jump on that. They are so many bad contracts with 2 years on them Faried can easily be traded at some point and pick up another asset even if its during the deadline. That would still leave the hawks with 15 million or so in cap space so you can trade for another bad contract unless you want to overpay for someone like Avery Bradley. It doesn't make sense for to go into FA with 30 million in cap space since none of the A list guys are going to sign.
