For the most part, I agree. If someone is giving him max money, you might have to just let him walk and we've known that since this deal went down last year. At the same time, I again point to the fact that NOBODY of any real impact is signing here as a free agent so what are we saving the cap space for? Who are we replacing him with? Once you traded Jimmy for him, letting him walk out the door the following offseason instantly became a bad look.

Lakers are in a vice here. If they want LBJ they have no choice but to fire off on the Kawhi trade right here, right now. How much can Buford and Pop squeeze them for? I'd imagine they get Kuzma and Ingram at bare minimum.

So since we're all about fun let's keep the fun train rolling. To combat the Kawhi isn't thrilled with the idea of playing with LeBron report from earlier, Yahoo of course retweeted this latest.

A source close to #LeBron tells me that #Kawhi Leonard reached out to James, telling him he very much wanted to play together. They spoke about Kawhi's lockdown defensive ability, which would alleviate pressure off of LeBron.Comment

What teams are the most motivated to go after Boogie? Is NOLA interested in keeping him at all?

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
LaVine thing is tricky, especially with the injury he had, but while he might not be worth a max deal he's just as good as most of the guys around the league who are getting them. On top of that he can shoot, handles the ball well enough to play both guard spots, and has the combination of length and quickness to develop into a solid defender as well..
Playing the way he's shown flashes of playing at while only being 21/22 years old, he looks like a guy would could get you 20 a night and flirt with the 50/40/90 club maybe as soon as a couple years from now. When you see the contract Wiggins got, Otto Porter got, he really should be expecting to get that type of money.
Not sure if I pay him if I'm Chicago and they may be another year or two away from figuring out which of their new pieces are staying and who all is on board for this rebuild.. But in Sac's case I think he's exactly what they need. They hit big on Fox and Bagley, have other good young players as well, they know they need a shooting/scoring wing to pair with them long term, if all of those guys pan out they'll be in a position where they have the "stars" and they just need players to fill out the roster. Might realistically be their best shot at landing that type of player and having him come up with their future.Comment

Magic wants to bring talent to LA, he needs to do what everyone else that screwed up has done and trade away what few assets they have.

I think NOLA really wants him back but they don't want to give him the max. They would rather give him a 1+1 or a 2+1 deal to see how he bounces back, plus what AD is going to do.
I think that will offend him and if another team gives me the max, then he will be gone.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Or do you want to throw max money at guys like LaVine because you can’t risk losing a trade that’s already been lost but still hope to get a meeting with a FA of “any real impact” just for them to turn them down anyway?
You forget that we haven’t signed anyone of real impact since like 2012 and let guys go that we traded for previously so we were in the same position that you guys are in. That hasn’t stopped us from making progress these last 3 years, so if we can do it, then y’all damn sure can do it.
And yes, I’m fully aware you don’t have any faith in the FO, but I’m just saying there are ways to get better without having to give someone a max contract.
