The most disappointing thing is we had Shams and Woj directly contradicting each other and we'll never know who was right.

I'm just glad that neither Cleveland or Phoenix won the lottery. Build an actual team like the rest of the league instead of praying for ping pong balls every year. New Orleans has had a rough few months, but I'm happy they had some good fortune last night. Time to see what David Griffin can do now.

Apparently it doesn't count anymore. We were just blessed that LeBron wanted to come back. Blessed us with his presence.

Let's also not forget that this is the 2nd time in a decade that the Pelicans won a franchise changing draft lotto. Yet somehow, it's the Suns and Cavs are the ones doing it the wrong way.

Whatever, I'm moving on from this one. Hoping whoever the Lakers trade #4 to is in love with Cam Reddish. The reward for being so bad this year being DeAndre Hunter is disproportionate in value. I even like Hunter as a player, but I think Culver might have superstar potential. Not sure Hunter has that in his range of outcomes.

I'm aware. But that was all LeBron. Aside from having luck on their side back in 2003 for a generational talent, they havent built squat. Cleveland's roster moves rivaled New Orleans during LeBrons first stint. After LeBron, they had Kyrie and didn't win jack. They took Tristan number 4. They drafted Anthony Bennett number 1, what, 2 years later? Outside of lucking into LeBron, and him deciding to return, what has Cleveland done.

We haven’t been able to build because we’ve been in win now for the last 5 years. After LeBron left the first time we had gotten lucky with the Davis trade to end up with Kyrie. We were just bad. Not intentionally losing, just not good enough to win. In the last season before LeBron came back we got back near .500. I think this was the first season I can remember us looking to lose.

Near perfect results for my Celtics.

The odds of trading for Anthony Davis grow increasingly slim, which in turn makes the return of Kyrie Irving that more unlikely to happen.

But you have to know that this is not going to be taken seriously coming from a Cavs fan, right?

There is no way the Pelicans compare at all to the Cavs in terms of "deserving" this chance, if there is such a thing as deserving.

I reject the whole premise out of hand.

Somehow the Cavs organization got grouped into Phoenix as an organization praying for ping pong balls. It's stupid to say the Cavs, as an organization, should be grouped somehow with Phoenix. Cavs are coming off a historical run of 4 straight Finals where they got some ping pong ball luck. Seems NO has that luck now.

No one "deserves" anything. The lotto is a straight crap shoot now, and it's hard for teams to be good in the NBA.

Given what we have seen out of Cleveland without LeBron, its not a stretch. It's like its LeBron or bust, with nothing in between. Cleveland isn't the disaster Phoenix has been, but they haven't made even a playoff run without Bron. That's what I was getting at. The team has had like 4 number 1 overall picks, plus top 3 and 4 picks. New Orleans was riding high just a year ago. They were somewhat in it again this season. Memphis has had some really good teams that they built through the draft along with the right veterans. I just feel like Cleveland should have more to show for their lottery luck. I fully expected them to win the lottery again last night. I dont know why.

Just nonsense. I didn't read it beyond that one. The Cavs built a team that, in any other era of the NBA, would have won 3 in a row, maybe more. Sure, they had LeBron, but they built the roster to pair with LeBron. They also seem to have drafted a good player at 8 last year, which is something that is extremely hard to do.

The Cavs have had a plan and executed it well for a while now. You can give all the credit to LeBron if you want, but I see teams like the Rockets, 76ers, Nuggets and others do less with more than the Cavs did.

                                Re: NBA Draft 2019

Our lottery luck has translated to our first ever title. LeBron, Kyrie and Thompson were all top 5 picks who had roles of varying importance in getting us to the finals for 4 years in a row and a ring. Kevin Love also came over for a first overall pick. Do people just forget he exists? We’re not a basement dweller if he doesn’t get injured this season. Maybe not playoff caliber, but definitely not bottom 3.

When Love went down the focus shifted to getting the young guys involved and building towards their future. Sexton in the lineup, Hill moved, Osman starting, Smith taken out of the rotation, Channing brought back as a mentor, Zizic given game time. Then bringing in Beilein to coach these young guys, given his track record in college ball.

We 100% do not deserve to be thrown into the same category as teams who have spent years depriving their fans of decent basketball in the hopes of maybe getting lucky. Whether we had the personnel or not we have been an organization intent on winning for over 15 years and sometimes teams are just bad.
