Part of me can't help but think that if PG had went to the Lakers and they ended up in this 6th spot that they would have taken Portland down pretty easily.. All these times Portland went to the Harkless-Aminu at the 4 and 5 small ball line-ups the Lakers would have had Lonzo-BI-PG-Kuz-Bron to counter..Comment

Magic made a cryptic tweet about the truth coming to light shortly after a report came out
Magic Johnson abruptly quit as the Los Angeles Lakers’ president of basketball operations earlier this month, and according to new reports, it was because management sent emails criticizing his bad performance — and Johnson was copied on those emails.
On Colin Cowherd’s show on Wednesday, USA Today reported, Bleacher Report senior writer and Fox Sports 1 analyst Ric Bucher detailed the story involving owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka: “My understanding is that there were some emails that were exchanged between Rob and Jeanie…about Magic and about what Magic was and wasn’t doing. They were critical emails. And somehow, someway, Jeanie, from what I understand, was CC’ing or blind CC’ing Magic on everything. That was sort of protocol. Standard issue.
Somehow, the exchange between Rob and Jeanie ended up on that string of the blind CC’s that were going to Magic. So, Magic now is seeing emails from Rob to Jeanie that were critical of what he was doing and maybe most important in all this is that there was no indication that Jeanie was backing Rob up in terms of either going to Magic and letting him know this was going on or going back at Rob and defending Magic. That was not happening and so when he talked about the backstabbing, to me, my understtanding that’s what started it. The fact that Jeanie waved goodbye and said ‘Thank you for all that you did’ was that she didn’t necessarily disagree with what Rob was saying.”Comment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
He looked so goofy after that exit press conference where he said he couldn't even look his bosses in the eye to quit that I don't blame them. Without seeing the emails it's hard to know what to make of it. I don't expect loyalty in business so emails criticizing him aren't even a big deal to me. Was he undermined in his actions or were they just talking ****?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
He’s too old to be doing that cryptic tweet nonsense.
Say what you want to say or STFU man. But stop all this “They were plotting behind my back” nonsense and trying to paint yourself as some sort of victim.
And spare me the capes too.#RespectTheCultureComment

I can’t remember is Bucher on the approved list of Laker news reporters or do we have to just automatically ignore these reports? I need to be sure before I offer any thoughts

Beucher?
I've seen many outlets reporting this since yesterday, then incomes Magic's tweet to confirm.
...and for the record, Jeannie is not talking to anybody right now and hasn't since before Magic bounced.Comment

2018-19 Transaction Thread
From Ian Begley, who covers both NY Teams:
Some of Durant's former teammates think it's going to happen, per ESPN sources. Several of his current teammates have told friends that they think it's going to happen, sources said. Opposing agents believe it's a fait accompli: "Just a matter of putting pen to paper," is how one agent of another top free agent in the 2019 free agent class put it.
Why would Durant come to the Knicks when he could stay with the Golden State Warriors or sign with other teams with stronger supporting casts, such as the LA Clippers or Brooklyn Nets?
One opposing executive monitoring Durant's situation closely believes that the opportunity to win in New York -- and push the notion that he jumped on the bandwagon to win rings in Oakland from the forefront of fans' consciousness -- is a pull for the two-time Finals MVP.
"Winning there would change the narrative around him," one executive said.
If Durant comes to New York, he's not coming to be part of a rebuild. So it's hard to see him committing to the Big Apple without another star in tow. Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving, who has a close relationship with Durant (remember All-Star Weekend?), is one of the players who could join Durant in the Big Apple. Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker also has fans in the Knicks organization. Multiple executives doing their homework on the free agent class, though, fully expect Durant to sign with the Knicks and Irving to join him.
There's growing evidence to support the theory:
After telling Celtics fans he plans on returning to Boston earlier this season, Irving acknowledged that the Knicks were on the list of teams that he'd consider as a free agent. He also softened that commitment to the Celtics in early February.
During the regular season, some close to Durant suggested to people with a rooting interest in the Knicks that they should remain calm amid New York's struggles this season. This was seen by those familiar with the conversations as further proof that Durant intends to sign with the Knicks.
And then there's the oft-cited factor of Rich Kleiman, Durant's manager, business partner and co-founder of his media company, being a Knicks fan. Kleiman, for what it's worth, attended several Knicks games at Madison Square Garden when the Warriors weren't the visiting team.KD? Kyrie? Zion? New York is chasing this summer's hottest names in one of the most important offseasons in franchise history.
I can see this BS actually happening too. And when it happens, I’ll be done.#RespectTheCultureComment
