Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
I think BI is more Odom than he is KD or any explsovie scorer. He wasnt born with the agility and talent like that. Hell be a solid starter for sure though. Better than batum.
Sent from my DIG-L21HN using Operation Sports mobile app
Odom was extremely talented. So good with the ball and creating for himself and others. He could have been great, but he never seemed to have that mindset or REALLY see how talented he was.
With Ingram, its the opposite. Not sure if it's his fault or coaching, but he seems to play as if he's better than he is.
And he just doesn't have that feel for the game with the ball like Odom or KD have. There are so many instances I've seen where he'll be set up either from a screen or a good move that he put on his man, and he'll have the space for a shot. But instead he'll go into another move leading to a now contested shot or try to take it into traffic knowing damn well he can't finish inside. Meanwhile as he is trying to pull off these moves he's not seeing the floor or having the forsight to able to anticipate that when he attacks the rim he'll be able to get the ball to a big for a much easier shot that the one he plans on putting up himself. Odom and Kobe are prime examples of that, where they would attack and instead of forcing up a bad shot into contact, they would draw the help and drop it off to the closest big for easy buckets routinely.
So I don't personally think he is basura. But I would have no problem getting rid of him. And I think the Batum comp is actually more accurate. Not like Hornets Batum. But Blazers Batum [emoji23]Comment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
His defense and rebounding are big concerns, though both look better than they did. His off ball defensive instincts are just bad, as are lots of young players. He and Hart both will sometimes be completely turned the wrong way, switch when the other player isn't switching, not switch when they do, not rotate when someone else rotates, etc... He's got decent length and athleticism so just watching him guard his man he doesn't look horrible, but he and Hart have terrible instincts in terms of defense being a 5-man job.
I think the Lakers are "ok" with those issues because of what he brings at the other end. He's their most aggressive scorer even with LeBron as far as hunting for opportunities for himself, and there isn't a shot he's scared of. Almost young Melo-ish in that regard.. Only issue with that is there aren't a lot of quick passes or ball reversals from he or Hart, they immediately seek out shots which can sometimes ruin the flow of the offense.Comment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
He can score but there are some things he could improve on though. Defense, 3 point shooting, rebounding and assist he could improve on. I known that sounds like a lot but he is getting better. Defense I think he can be a good defender he makes some good defense plays but he also commits so really bad fouls, his 3 point shooting % was better last year so maybe he will start shooting 3 better not sure, he is not a bad rebounder just not great and his assist have gone up from 1.8 last year to 2.5. I think he can be a 20+ point guy he is already at 19.1 right now and if he could improve his assist to around 4 that would be good. Than just foul guys a little bit less and maybe up rebounds from around 6 to 7. The thing is to is he wants to be great and knowns he can improve he has a drive to be good/great.
Yeah, I was surprised his numbers because from the "eye test" I was pretty impressed with him. The thing I like about him and Hart too is that they both seem to play under control, especially around the rim.
That's the thing that frustrates me about Tatum and Brown. If I had a quarter for every time one of those guys slaps a layup off of the back board or charge into a defender and lose control of the ball, then I could probably buy a nice lunch. Me yelling "slow down" to those guys is the new "pass" and "don't shoot it" that I used to yell at Smart.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

He' one of the players I was looking at too. But from what I've seen. And I'm talking purely from his family and how grounded he's been through out the whole come up. I'd say he's got a good chance of staying. And I know this is stupid. But his youngest brother Ante. Could be the best of them all. He could of easily left home for a bigger school. But he stayed home. I'm not saying he a lock to stay again. It just feel different with him.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
It has less to do with market than just sheer luck/flexibility IMO. You have to have stuff planned out years in advance. I think about this a lot with Porzingis. In a perfect world, we would offer him some kind of discounted Curry contract, and use the extra money to build around him. In the actual world, if you don't offer him a max, someone else will. So we're forced to give whatever huge percentage of our cap to what essentially amounts to hope. Then you get maybe one more shot. You have to keep the existing talent that exists around your star... So you give a 5 year 130 million dollar deal to Jrue Holliday. Boom, your cap is ****ed, your star wants out.
Get rid of max contracts.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
They've been talking about this on the radio here in light of the Davis stuff, but even years ago one of the radio guys was preaching that teams need to put themselves in position (obviously he was talking about the Bulls specifically) because it's pretty much every six months or so, one of these superstar players want out. They were speculating that Giannis would be the next one to want out and teams need to try to set themselves up to be in position to make an offer when it happens.Comment

Re: 2018-19 Transaction Thread
Out of here with that Giannis stuff. lolz.
Giannis: “I don’t like all these flashy cities like L.A. or Miami. I don’t know if I could be the same player if I played in those cities.” “I can feel the love from the city every day I step on the floor,” he said. “For me, what I’m going through now, I appreciate it even more.” I got loyalty inside my DNA
“There’s a lot of things you can do in Milwaukee, too.”
Bucks are expect
I know others have said that.
Bucks are expected to make an offer for Anthony Davis.Last edited by roadman; 01-29-2019, 02:10 PM.Comment
