I thought Darko would play this year and even with Wallace suspended his mins didn't really increase.

It's pretty much a given barring injuries, Darko won't even be playing 30 mins a night.

The main bigs on the Pistons are signed on for next year, so let's assume Darko racks up DNP-CD's for the 3rd straight year, would you consider him a bust?

When you pick from the 2nd spot, I don't expect the player to be a cheerleader in his 2nd season.

    Ugh not this again.

To answer ur question no hes not. Detroit has insane depth at the 4 and 5 and i dont think Larry Brown is going to play an 18-19 year old kid whos still adapting over McDyess, Wallace, whoever else.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

The thing is, even if he was ready, they don't really need him in the lineup. They have Ben Wallace, Antonio McDyess, Rahseed Wallace, and Elden Campbell to split substantial minutes between PF and C. Also, on the bench they have Derek Coleman, who could be productive someplace else.

Also, remember, he is not only adjusting as a young kid, equivalent of a high school kid, he is also adjusting to a new game and new country. Look how long it took Jermaine O'Neal to adjust? And look at other HS players who are still struggling for minutes? Ebi? Outlaw? And other Euros?

Not everyone can come in and be LeBron James or Dirk Nowitzki.

Yao Ming made a smooth transation.

As for the other players you brought up, none of them were picked as high as number 2 in the draft.

But a lot of times saying a player is a bust is in the eye of the beholder.

For example someone can argue Stro Swift is a bust for the number 2 pick while others might argue he's still young and could blossom into an elite player still.

If the Pistons have no plans to play him in the future (say the next 2/3 years) they're better off trading him to another team for draft picks then.

If I'm Darko I would be frustarted at the lack of mins. You learn a lot quicker by playing on the court than ncheerleading. Nothing beats hands on experience. Darko is bound to make rookie mistakes so it's better to get it out of his system now than later.

That in itself speaks volumes. If you're a quality NBA player you would be on the court not cheerleading from the bench.
