    Allen Iverson

    When he's retired from the league, is it possible to say he was one of the best players in the NBA? I think he already qualified himself to be in that category, but he seems to always be overlooked IMO. His career is better than any of the elite guards in the leagu right now. Best shooting guard since Jordan.

    <lu> Feb. 19, 2004, vs. Seattle scored 40 points in a game for the 50th time
    </lu>
    <lu> Named an Eastern Conference All-Star starter in 2004 for the 5th year in a row (2000-04)
    </lu>
    <lu> 10th fastest player to reach 14,000 points on Jan. 23, 2004
    </lu>

    <lu> Averaged 14.3 points and 3.8 assists per game helping USA Basketball Men's Senior National team qualify for the 2004 Olympics
    </lu>
    <lu> Named the 2000-01 NBA Most Valuable Player, leading the league in scoring (31.1 ppg) and steals (2.51 spg)
    </lu>

    <lu> Most Valuable Player of the 2001 All-Star Game
    </lu>
    <lu> Three times selected All-NBA Second Team (2000, 2002, 2003)
    </lu>
    <lu> Two time first team All-NBA Team (1999, 2001)
    </lu>
    <lu> Named the 1996-97 Schick NBA Rookie of the Year, becoming the first 76ers player to ever win the award
    </lu>
    <lu> Set the Sixers all-time rookie record with 1,787 points
    </lu>
    <lu> Scored 40 points in five straight games in April 1997 to set an NBA rookie record
    </lu>
    <lu> Named MVP of the Schick Rookie Game during the 1997 NBA All-Star Weekend, posting 19 points and a game-high 9 assists
    </lu>
    <lu> Named NBA Rookie of the Month for November, 1997, leading all rookies in scoring (21.8 ppg), assists (6.4 apg) and steals (2.67 spg)
    </lu>

    This season, he had two back to back 50 pt games and is the 7th player in NBA history to ever accomplish that. Many can argue that he himself took the Sixers to the NBA Finals.

    Iverson is worthy of being in the Hall of Fame.

    I agree with you, people always knock him. Dont let P2K see this thread. I know he wont agree.

        Yeah I've always taught, pound for pound AI is the best player in the league.
        people forget this guy is 6 feet with shoes on and stil puts up numbers. just cause he had a rough year last year doesn't mean he ain't good anymore.

        but thats how fans are the overlook people and get all hyped up over the 'new thing'

        AI should be in the HOF even if he doesn't win a ring he has accomplished alot.
        “It’s so senseless to me to say he shouldn’t take over like that. You give the same amount of shots to everybody else and they’re not making that many, I know it.”

            No question Iverson is going to the hall of fame. Isn't he already in the top 50 NBA players club? If Iverson stays healthy throughout the entire year, he's on pace to have his best season yet in almost every category.

                Individually he's got it all. He will be a HOF, but he is the type of guy people love or hate. He doesn't care and some people don't like it. None of the other present playing guards ( players ) put up such numbers or won so many awards, not Kobe, Vince or McGrady. For me he was always the best guard in the Nba and top 5 player overall. So many people said he can't play the point and look at him now, he averages 28 pts. and over 7 ***. per game, and **** his TO, he hustles. I love his game.

                    There was never a question about his skills. Seems to be finally maturing in all areas of the game. Will his body hold up for the next 3 or 4 years? Has never had a number 2 guy with similar talent, energy, and passion.(Stackhouse was close, but they were both too stubborn and immature then.) Can AI 2 become that guy? The best thing I can say about him is I've never seen him take two or three minutes off during a game. Even most of the elite players do that from time to time. Not A.I. He brings it all the time. He use to be in my hate category, but I don't write people off forever, he seems to have grown up and come to realize that there's more to the game then what goes on during the 48 minutes of game time.

                    Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

                    Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

                            I agree that there are not a lot of middle-of-the-road AI fans...AI has proven to be one of the best in the league during his tenure, and he has the stats I believe to warrant a HOF induction...Iverson has had virtually no help...ever in Philly, yet he has willed the to be perinial (SP) winners...which is just as good as his gaudy stats....especially given his relatively small stature...but when that time comes please believe more people are going to focus on his off-the-court activites, more than his on-the-court accomplishments...which is all that a HOF should have to worry about.
