    Re: 2019 Offseason Thread

So if they find a deal, I still think having an extra 9 mil to spend to build a team > 1 max player. But initial reports were Davis was only going to waive his trade bonus if they found a max player..

If Woj’s tweet is accurate it would be Bron+AD+Kuz+max money, the rest of the roster would have to be draft picks and minimum deals, but Woj’s tweet said this would allow them to exceed the cap.. which if I understand that correctly they would have the full MLE to offer, as well as the bi-annual to offer.

I actually think there are a few decent options in the second round, guys that I wouldn’t reach to take in the first because their ceilings are low, but all look to be solid role players. Cam Johnson, Daniel Gafford, Jontay Porter, Kevin Porter, Jaylen Hands, Carsen Edwards, Darius Bazley..

Just remember the 2011 Miami Heat...**** depth but still a championship contender. LeBron + AD + Kawhi + Kuzma + 2nd round picks + LLE is still easily the favorite and arguably still is even if they lost 1 of LeBron/AD/Kawhi to injury.

I highly doubt they get Kawhi, but I don’t think they would be pushing to make all this happen if they didn’t have an agreement from someone.

Would much prefer depth to Kyrie though regardless. Even just Beverly might improve the team more than Kyrie.. he’s every bit the plus defensively as Kyrie is offensively IMO.

If Boston keeps all of their 1st, then they could get pretty close to a max.

I hope Danny has a plan but all signs are pointing to treadmill city.... I guess I'm just going to live vicariously through my 2K19 MyLeague at this point.

Man I got to admit.. I’ve wanted Bron and Kawhi to team up for basically as long as Kawhi has been relevant. Always wanted Bron to go to San Antonio. Would love to see how their games compliment each other.. I thought the same with PG and Kawhi as well, I just think we would get amazing basketball out of those types of duos.

But I really don’t know that I would love Bron+AD+Kawhi on the same team. I mean if they make it happen so be it, could be really fun to watch.. but I would get the KD going to GS feeling. Even if the rest of the roster was bad they would likely be title favorites, especially with KD and Klay out.

It is what it is, there have always been teams better than the other 29 or however many, but adding Kemba or Jimmy to the mix would make the whole thing feel less cheap I guess? That team wouldn’t come into the season the unanimous favorite to roll to a title, you would expect them to still have to compete. Kawhi, AD, Bron.. that probably would. That’s 3 payers in the top 5 range of players.

So Boston is doing something right? What players could they be looking at? Is there an option they trade off the picks, move up in the draft? I’ve not really seen much about them.

I know what you mean and I’d feel much better about it if Durant and Klay stay in GS. That gives LA their run this year and they can duke it out in 2021. Evens out cause Bron will be really old.

That’s why Kawhi to Lakers makes more sense than people realize. Bron ain’t even in their long term plans but AD/Kawhi duo can compete for titles for nearly the next decade.

A verified Lakers insider over on r/Lakers said Horford is likely going to the 76ers. He’s not always right but he’s reported many things correctly before so take that for what it’s worth.

If true, that means Jimmy, JJ, and Tobias are all gone, right?

                      Re: 2019 Offseason Thread

By the way, just wanted to point out that Woj and Bobby Marks have now backtracked their original report that the Lakers had to get this deal pushed back to July 30th if they wanted a max FA. That was probably an agenda-driven report from some other team's camp, LAC being an obvious candidate. I mean think about it, do you think a single team in the NBA outside of the Lakers wants to see LeBron/AD/Kawhi on the same team, especially the teams that have a chance at landing Kawhi?

If a bunch of dudes on the internet can figure it out like they did, I'm guessing Rob Pelinka knew this all a long and likely a key reason he signed Jemerrio Jones to a non-guaranteed contract late last season. In other words, Rob knows what he's doing. Regardless of what happens at this point, I think Magic quitting was a huge blessing in disguise.

I saw a lot of people saying that they would have to lose two of the three. If it turns out to be true, I'd assume they would try to keep Jimmy.

Agreed, makes no sense unless the 76ers are trading Embiid.

Man when all this reporting of it being impossible that the Lakers could create max room was coming out it felt weird to me that they were fully acting like a team that was going after a max player... almost like somebody was missing something, and perhaps they were now..

Anyways all the "Kyrie wants to play with AD" stuff coming out has me nervous, like mentioned a few times if I were playing GM that would be my last choice. And not just my last max contract choice, that would be my choice after missing out on max guys, and failing to reach deals with multiple good role players.

I trust Pelinka. He was Kobe's agent, Kobe wouldn't have anyone but the best. I think Magic was a big problem but all the other stuff with Jeanie and the "shadow owners" didn't help. Notice how there's not many leaks going on in LA anymore? Sounds like they're getting things under control and more structured.

Anyway, I'm sure Kyrie did want to play with AD in New York/BK but sounds like going to New York (his home, right?) is higher on his priority list.
