It's too bad he has probably the second-worst contract in the entire league.

So I was assuming one more year at 25 and sign that same deal for significantly less for multiple years next season.

I get what you’re saying to an extent, but I also think guys are looking at the void in the potential void in the free agent market if Klay, KD and Kawhi stay with their teams which a lot of teams/people didn’t think was going to happen and now teams have all this money they were saving for this free agency that they have to spend. This is similar to when the TV money came in and made the huge cap spike so guys were getting paid money they had no business getting paid because the teams had to spend that cash. I think that’s what this is to a lesser degree tho.

I don’t even know how they’d do it. They’ve got 5 guys on the roster right now with no where near the matching salary to make it work unless they absorb him into their cap space which takes them out of the running for literally everybody else at that point

Chris Paul and Harden was never going to work. It could’ve, but I think Harden’s development from being ball dominant to just being a straight up ball hog hindered it. Dude made no sacrifices and you could say it worked because of the MVP and him salvaging their season but it didn’t actually get them anywhere meaningful.

I wonder where CP lands though. Who has the need for a 34 year old PG on a big contract? This is the kind of dumb **** I see the Wolves doing.

For example, the Jazz can basically offer the same thing for CP3 that they were offering for Conley but substitute Korver in instead of a first round pick.

Pistons can basically do the same.

Lakers and Pacers have enough cap space that they don’t have to match salaries.

Boston can build something around Hayward.

Milwaukee could offer something built around Bledsoe and Snell.

Miami has a plethora of contracts that they can offer.

It really depends on if Morey thinks these types of packages would actually improve their team.

Edit: Can probably cross Lakers off the list but the others remain

Was it Mike Conley who got that money.

One of the biggest contracts I remember people complaining about for years. Like literally years... Was that Joe johnson conttact.
