Read a few days back that he and Boston were working on a new deal.

Although I know that he is looking for a new long term deal, I am still surprised that Horford declined his 30 mil option.

Honestly he's a complete question mark to me, I don't know what he wants. But I could almost see it just as a lightning rod thing, no one is ever going to be mad at Kawhi. The **** is always going to fall on LeBron. There's some bonus in that... The Clippers angle is just odd to me. I know he's from LA but did he specifically grow up a Clippers fan? If his priority is winning, is there a better option than Bron, AD, Kawhi? Just seems insane.

I do believe that Kawhi's main two options are Clippers and Toronto. He is a low key guy so the whole big market allure doesn't phase him. He also doesn't want to be the third wheel. I think it comes down to whether he wants to come back "home". Toronto can essentially bring back same squad and be a contender again. I don't think he is going to sign a 1+1. I think he will sign a long term deal. I do believe long term, Clippers are the better option. They have a good young nucleus with Shai, Shamet, Trez, and Zubac. But I wouldn't be surprised if he stays with Raptors.
I do believe the Clippers can open up another max spot. I think Gallo can help teams with his scoring so they could deal him. But I don't know what other max player you would pair with him. They don't need a point and they have good overhaul guard depth. They have good shooting with Williams and Shamet. Unless you would pair him with Jimmy Buckets, they could just fill out roster

I really dont see why he wouldnt want to go there. Not only would he be likely to win the Champion with ad and james but in a few years or so when james is gone you would still have ad there to play with and you would havr james money comming off to try to get a 3erd star again right after he leaves and or get a deep team. So you are likely to be good even after james is gone.

The money part remains to be seen. He's 33 and he may be looking to cash in one last time. A 3 year $70ish million would be better as than one year at $30M, than two more years at $10-15 (if he doesn't have a good year)

I think Boston's plan is to sign him to an extension (something like 3 years $60M) but there are a lot of good teams with cap space that could drive up the market.

I'd be cool with Al going somewhere he can win a title... all I'm asking is that he doesn't go to the Lakers on a Boogie-esqe type Golden State deal. That would make me sick...

That is crazy he has always been a good but not great player and at 33 he is likely not getting a big contract again. Just realized he turned 33 on june 3. We have the same bd only i am 30 lol

The Horford thing is just more guaranteed money. He could resign a 3 year for 60 deal and be guaranteed 60 million dollars, where as he could play next year for 30, get hurt, and only be guaranteed for half the money of this other deal.. Exact reason I was surprised Dragic didn't do the same.

I'd be shocked if a team signs even close to that number again. Horford was one of the most consistent players on this team. He's going to be hard to replace.

I would not be shocked if he ends up on the Warriors or something along those lines.

If rumors over the past few days are true he's staying in Boston. He's just getting a new/longer contract.

Horford must really trust his agent. He's 33 and averaged 14-7. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a 3/$40m type of deal but we'll see. Maybe Boston overpays the hell out of him.

I assume Horford already basically has an offer in hand from Boston if he opted out and I don’t think Boston would renege on him.
