    2019 Offseason Thread

Someone want to explain to me why Dwight Powell is declining a 10.2 million player option ?

So Portland is giving Lillard the supermax (4 for 191 million) is it considered a hot take that I don't think if I would do that ?

Paying Lillard 52.8 million at the age of 34 (24/25) just seems incredibly risky to me

I think the Bulls looking into ZO is typical offseason banter. I honestly don't think LA would do that, makes no sense tbh.

For what it's worth, I feel you on Lonzo OJ

He's not a scorer. And if that's what you value most in a point guard, then you'll be disappointed with Lonzo.

There is nothing else you can say he is bad at on the court. It's actually the exact opposite as he excells at all the other facets of the game. And he's only 21.

But I guess because he's not saucing players up on the way to the rim or bombing from deep that's not enough for people. Lol

It would be foolish to lose a star guard who wants to be there when it's hard to get guys to sign there.

                  He's definitely earned his pay

Think a lot of it is he's injured every offseason. He's healthy this summer so I want to see what a full summer of work could do for him. Also, I think a lot of shooting is tied to Luke and his awful min. Zo shooting 36% from deep for his career when he getting 30-39 min, 24% in 20-29 min.

Well that's an interesting stat. Though the statistical analyst part of me (not to brag, but I took multiple stat and epidemiology courses in college [emoji41][emoji23]) does wonder if thats more of a product of him shooting well in a game leading to more playing time or Lonzo not shooting well in a game leading to Walt making him sit leading to less playing time [emoji848]

Ball I think is a sold back up type of PG but nothing more. The guy cant shoot worth crap and is a good but not great passer. He can really defend though. I say lakers trade him and a pick or such to get AD and then pick up Kemba Walker in FA to get a big 3 of LJ, AD and Kemba. Find a way to get AD and keep either Kuz or BI and lakers are a championship contender next year if you have LJ, AD and Kemba and also keep either Kuz or BI. Also like people have said Ball seems to be injure prone player.

He may be the second best PG behind only Curry and he is only 28 going to be 29 in July. How many years does he have left on his contract right now? I known he must have at least 1 year has other wise you would hear about him when people talk about all the great FA this offseason. Its just crazy to me still how much player contracts have went up in the last like 5-10 years. I mean 4 years at 191 million is like 48 million a year. Doesn't seem like it was that long ago that the top guys were only making like 30 million lol.

His new salary kicks in the year 21/22 and starts out at 42.6 million per year. His expected salary will take up roughly 35% of the projected salary cap.

I remember growing up and being geeked to see the All NBA team selection. Now with it all being tied to super max deals (I know incentives have always been there but they were more “behind the scenes”) I think about it purely from a contract situation. Kinda sucks but I’m dreading reading Beal’s name on the 3rd team.
