It’s a tough cycle.. players are so hit or miss, everyone seems to go young and don’t give guys time to develop or the potential was never all it was projected to be. Teams run into the issue of moving guys before they can develop, or they develop right at the time where they are being let go because the team is still rebuilding and wants cap room.

Bulls have done a decent job of evaluating talent with their later picks. Jimmy Butler, Gary Harris, Jusuf Nurkic, Bobby Portis, Jordan Bell, were all pretty much steals for their draft spots.. they’ve just don’t a terrible job of keeping them and letting them develop.

Apparently the rumor is that they’ll be targeting Terry Rozier, Pat Beverly and don’t rule out them making a bid for Mike Conley once Memphis looks to move him after they get Ja.

A Zach Lavine/Terry Rozier backcourt would be an absolute disaster.

Yeah Jrue is another that they've had on their radar for a bit now. Not really sure what it's going to take to get him out of NO though or if they'd even be willing to move him now that they'll have Zion there and are still hoping that they can somehow convince AD to stay.

Conley really doesn’t line up well with this young group they have, though next year was when they were looking at really trying to push to get back into the playoffs so I suppose if they were operating on that kind of timeline having Conley for that would make sense. But I thought they were trying to get a young core that could all grow and mature together type of thing going. If Dunn was developing the way they'd hoped, it'd already be in place right now, but here we are.

Wizards granted permission to interview Tim Connelly. Man that would be a gigantic upgrade from Ernie. Will be interesting to see how Washington ****s this up.

They interviewed Danny Ferry for a 2nd time and are also looking to interview Troy Weaver as well.

Which means Ferry will be introduced as the new GM in about a week or so.

I think people see they struggled this year, and they haven't shot great from 3 and that's the narrative. Don't young guys like Tatum, Mitchell, etc also only shoot 30% from 3? It's just one of those narratives.
For me it’s exactly that when people only love to hate the Lakers. This exact same thing happened with Randle/DLo, now it’s “Damn LA should’ve kept them.” When they was with us they was “bust” etc.

I’m happy with how our young guys have come a long outside of Ball injuries. People think the world of Knox or ****ing “Scary Terry” but all the Laker guys are trash though.

Point me to the guy who thinks the world of Knox, he can make me feel better after I've been told all year he's the worst player in the NBA.

One thing I am excited for with Jason Kidd being hired is him getting the chance to work with Ball directly.

...that is, if he's still a Laker next year [emoji849]

The Russell noise will always be strange to me. Some of the gripes about him were legit when he was there(The Snapchat mess, not taking care of his body or just BSing around as he put it)but everything else when he was traded was a bit much.

I honestly can't even remember what all was said about him at this point, outside of the whole snitching thing.. But I think part of the issue was people just expected too much too soon from him. I know I thought he looked like the type to have immediate impact, kinda like Mitchell, but I also understand that with some guys that just doesn't happen.

Here we are 4 years later and he's playing like an All-Star. Offensively he would have likely been good enough to buoy the Lakers offense when they had injuries, and as a result they would have won a few more games and I think would have been a playoff team this year.. Which overall, even if the Lakers didn't want to keep him, they would be in the same cap situation with his money expiring and likely much more attractive for free agents coming off a playoff season rather than missing it altogether. What looked like a lateral move from Magic (considering what your opinion was on Russell) now looks like a horrible move just a couple seasons later..

I always considered him in the mold of a Harden, Roy type of player.. Which is also why I'm high on Barrett because I see that mold in him as well. Russell is now only 21, and just for comparison the year Harden first started looking like an All-Star type of guy as OKC's 6th man he was 22. Russell could realistically be ahead of the game a bit on a similar player who has now jumped to MVP level.

He was a 19-20 y/o NBA player trying to learn the hardest position in the league, which also requires the most time and patience to develop but because he wasn’t looking like All Star right out of the game and combined with the Nick Young incident, that’s how some of the tales came out.

And then of course, you had that idiot speak out against him as well, which added to the noise.

Getting traded to the Nets and having THIS coaching staff work with him was the best thing to happen in his career.

The way DLo has developed is what makes me so excited to watch Collin. Their rookie years were pretty much identical in terms of numbers and Collin was being written off as early as December.

Same with Trae too and I think his rookie season is one of the most impressive for a point guard we’ve seen in a very long time.

He was basically an immature kid in a market where the spotlight was right on top of his head.

He got benched by both Byron Scott and Walton for making mistakes.

He kinda got Luke Waltoned because they threw his first season away so Kobe could shoot bricks at his heart's content then walk off the floor waiving at everyone and smiling.

Being in LA is not really a place for young players to develop.

They've pretty much siphoned other teams stars for years to continue to compete and have no clue how to develop talent, nor do they have patience.

I personally think that mindset is a set up to fail in today's league which is one reason why theyve missed the playoffs for years now.
