For someone who prides himself on philosophy and free thinking, Kyrie couldn’t have come up with something better than 7/11?

To be fair, Deni has generally struggled with his shooting. He's always looked the part but the results have never been there. He was still a top 3-5 prospect in the draft for me at least though. Talented dude, and I know the Israeli league is pretty weak, but it's still always impressive to me when a teenager wins MVP of any professional league.

I think he or LaMelo should have been the Warriors pick (I would have taken LaMelo personally, but either would have been a good choice IMO).

I still am not feeling the Lamelo hype. He's super young. But he's just never really moved the needle for me. I think Charlotte had to get him. So I get it.

But I'm not sold on him at all. Despite all the youtube stuff about him being able to knock down shots from half court and Curry range. He's not very efficient.

Still I think he does have good vision and alot of room to grow. But he's not gonna blow up imo. He's getting Zion level treatment. I don't ever see him being a superstar.

He isn't a elite scorer and isn't physical thats two major things that its hard to really teach when your talking about the elite level franchise players.

He's doesn't really have much vert or quickness either. So you're hoping for a guy that will be an elite playmaker and become better offensively. I don't buy into it.

25% from three. 38% shooting overseas. Do scouts think that's gonna dramatically improve?

They mostly peg it on his lack of strength & poor shot selection.

Yet, everything thing y'all mentioned, plus his odd shooting form & horrendously bad defense give me pause. I see a lot of flashiness in his game, which is great for the highlight reel & ticket sales, but don't see him becoming anything too great.

I see him as a taller version of Jason Williams or maybe, maybe Pistol Pete if he can hone in on his scoring output.

Just my two cents since I was the one saying Golden State should have taken him. I don't think he's a lock to be a star by any means. There's a pretty decent chance he never becomes the shooter that some scouts expect him to be and never becomes the defender that he has the tools and instincts to be, and if both of those things occur, he's likely an empty stats guy (i.e. putting up numbers but being a net-negative player).

But I think he had the most natural talent in the draft, I think he's a great fit in a ball-movement based system like the Warriors have despite the potential shooting woes, and for a team like Charlotte, he was a no-brainer of a pick because at minimum he's going to be a very entertaining player.

Re: scouts thinking he can develop his shooting, I remember ESPN's scouts (DraftExpress + Kevin Pelton) put out scouting reports with attributes and everything for all the prospects and they had LaMelo listed as an average shooter in the NBA from Day 1 with the potential to be one of the best shooters in the league, so yeah, some scouts think he has a lot of potential there. I do tend to think he has natural shooting touch already but the mechanics are a mess; not a mess like Lonzo's where it makes it impossible for him to shoot off the dribble, but a mess where it makes it a lot more difficult to shoot with consistency. They basically believe his ceiling is to be the best passer in the NBA while also being one of the best shooters and ball-handlers.

Fans be too quick to put ceilings/limitations on players, lol. It’s not like he’s been annoited the second coming of Steph or Stockton or Hardaway.
