The Sacramento Kings have declined to match the Atlanta Hawks’ four-year, $72 million offer sheet for restricted free agent guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, sources tell ESPN.

I think it's a good move. A lot of money there. And sadly Bogda is 28 years old.

While it’s not what I would have done and the roster still has serious flaws with a 0% chance of getting out of the 1st round. The roster is much Improved and will be fun to watch.

If I had choose between Hield and Bogdan, I rather have Hield. More money than I would want to pay for his skill set. But give me close to 20ppg on over 40% from 3pt. Both are 28(Hield in a couple weeks), you don't think of 'potential' anymore for someone who is 28. You know what you are getting. The hope is that since Trae is a better playmaker that it'll put Bogdan in better situations to score.

Kings are putting a lot of faith in Haliburton. But, I wouldn't want to paying Hield max and Bogdan 18 mill for next 4 years. I hope this doesn't stunt growth of Huerter, Reddish, and Hunter.

It’s definitely going to stunt the growth of the young guys and lower Their trade values when they don’t put up stats. No way Around it as 11 guys can’t get meaningful minutes. In a odd way this increases the chanced of Collins getting a extension as the cap space for next summer is now gone. So you might as well go ahead and lock him up.

The Gallo/ Collins/ Capella things is going to be interesting Gallo can’t guard the 3, Collins is the best player and Clint is needed to protect the rim. I don’t see how it’s going to work I would move Gallo to the bench just not sure that’s realistic.

If I’m the kings I would tank this year and try and move Barnes during the year.

So Kings lose him for nothing. Could’ve matched and try to trade him sometime next year.

I’m not a fan of the Hawks’ offseason either. They should make the playoffs in the East which is all that really matters though.

Someone on Atlanta really needs be traded. There's just not enough minutes for everyone at the 2-4. There depth and then there's overkill where players are just wasting away on the bench.

                  Re: 2020 Offseason Thread

I don't actually think the Bogdanovic pickup is bad for Atlanta. I know they had Huerter and Reddish, Cam was great to close last season and Huerter has been solid when healthy.. Both statically make an argument to be as good or better than Bogdanovic at times, however they likely don't quite have his instinct yet, he's more of a win now type of guy, and whatever their strengths are neither of them are really a modern 2-guard or what I would consider a player who is a shooting guard but also has the combo guard skill level to be a secondary ball handler, play maker, etc..

Atlanta has lots of pieces, but it's really a 1,2 of depth at each spot.

                  Trae/Rondo
                  Bogdanovic/Huerter
                  Hunter/Cam
                  Collins/Gallo
                  Capela/Okongwu

So even though they have lots of depth on the wing it's not like they are just completely loaded at one position, they just have high quality depth with no apparent stand out amongst the group..

I think these additions really let them evaluate what their future plans are with each of these players. Odds are they couldn't have kept every single one of these young guys regardless if they kept flashing hints of becoming good players. I think this will help them get a more clear idea of which guys fit what they need, who could be traded, etc.

They also have Tony Snell making 12 mil a year, and Dunn making 5 mill as the #3 PG.

Agree it's my only problem with the whole situation. Players like Kevin Huerter, DeAndre Hunter and Cam Reddish. Who I thought made some strides last season. Screenshot_20201125-005435.jpg

Yeah, I doubt either of them see much court time.. personally I would have liked to see Dunn go back up Chris Paul. But I figure we’ll see him occasionally get minutes at the 1 and maybe a defensive 2 with Atlanta. Dunn was a great signing, until they got Rondo, and honestly Rondo might be just more of an overpaid mentor and Dunn take a lot of his minutes.

Unless there is improvement though both Dunn and Snell shouldn’t be anything more than spot minute guys on a playoff team anyways. Neither of them really even produced on bad teams as it is. Hawks had to spend money on somebody and those will likely be trade filler at some point I would assume, if not Snell is just an expiring contract to get the out of Dedmon’s contract. He won’t play.

I do think it was bad to lose Bogdanovic for nothing. I get that they want to focus on Fox, Haliburton, and Bagley as the core for future. And if Bagley really steps it up this year(the hope this year for him), he should be eligible for a rookie extension. You don't have Fox, Hield, Bogdanovic, and Bagley on sizable deals if that isn't the core. But, they let a botched S&T deal prevent them from getting anything in return.

It's going to be a race for the play-in spot for the East. The top 7 are pretty much penciled in. It's AtL, Magic, and Washington for that last spot. I don't see Charlotte as a playoff team. Magic might take a little step back without Issac for the year. You can't count out Washington if Wall looks good and stays healthy.

Which it really shouldn't considering they're a second round exit at best. I will never understand teams and fans (not talking about you btw, just fans in general) that are just happy to make the playoffs. Building a team primed for mediorcrity is the absolute worst place to be in the NBA. In this league you either need to be a team that's a legitimate contender who has the pieces in place to actually get out of your conference and win a title or at least not be slaughtered if you make the Finals. Or be a garbage team that misses the playoffs and has a legit shot at the top 5 draft selections. Anything inbetween is a waste of everyone's time and NBA no man's land. The Hawks seem to have building largely irrelevant, average, mediocre teams good for the 4th through 6th seed in the east down to a science. It's cool to be in that spot for a year, maybe 2 as a stop on your core's growth, but this team like previous Hawk teams project to perpetually be in that range which does absolutely nothing for them or their fans. Here's hoping it works out for them, but as of right now, I can't see it without someone developing into a superstar because they're cap situation moving forward doesn't suggest any superstar signings. That and big time free agents don't go to Atlanta either.
