5/3 - 5/19 Games Discussion Thread
I still don’t like it and hope it doesn’t go beyond this year especially when we get back to a regular 82 game schedule.
My question for those that like it: Did it make you care more about the Wizards, Pacers, Grizzlies or any of the other bottom teams in either conference?#RespectTheCultureComment

Yeah I’m hoping LeBron gets knocked off in the play in and they scrap the whole thing.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I feel like the Warriors will always be interesting as long as Steph is playing(as evidenced by last year).
What about the other teams though?#RespectTheCultureComment

In the case of the Wizards, did it make you want to tune into their games more over the last month? Was it the triple double watch from Westbrook?

It's not the 8-10 seeded teams as much as paying extremely close attention to the rest of the playoff race because the ramifications are huge. Out West you got Utah and Phoenix vying for 1/2 and their potential "reward" could be a showdown with the Lakers in the first round. Then you got LAC and DEN vying for the 3rd/4th seeds and then Portland, Dallas, and the Lakers battling it out for seeds 5-6 to avoid dropping to 7th and being thrust into the play-in tournament. None of those 3 teams want to be the 7th seed and thus it's made the games feel far more important, playoff-like.Comment

Lakers are a game back from both teams in front of them, Grizz a half game behind GS for 8th, Pacers even with 8th in the East with Wizards 1 game behind that... We would literally be having the same teams fighting for the last spots tournament or not. What has it made more exciting?Comment

Well for one, the battle for the 6th seed is more important than it's ever been before now that securing it (or higher) avoids the play-in. That alone has definitely made teams play harder.
I learned a long time ago on here (OS) specifically that many of y'all just hate change when it comes to the postseason format (or even the ****ing all-star game, lmao) so I'm not surprised how much disdain I've seen for it on these forums.Comment

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Nah I'm sure it's making certain teams second-guess tanking for matchups. Like if there was no play-in, it would be a no-brainer for the Lakers to "tank" for that 7th seed to face the Suns rather than win for the 6th seed and face the Clippers. But now because anything can happen in 1 game, they're shooting for that 6th seed regardless if it's gonna be the Clippers or not cause then they're at least guaranteed 4 games instead of 2.Comment
