Walking through how each side will play their hand, the Knicks surely will offer Randle every dollar they can to sign that extension, as it provides a significant discount to what he could get if he makes All-NBA again in 2022. Meanwhile, Randle just as surely will turn it down. He can earn far more money a year from now if he performs anywhere close to the level he played at in 2020-21, including from the Knicks.”

John Hollinger on Julebron’s extension talks, pretty much what we knew, it doesn’t make any sense for him to sign the extension we can offer this off-season and we will inevitably end up eating ****.

    Who is John Hollinger?

And I think Randle takes the extension this off-season. Where is he gonna go..OKC, Sac? I think having missed the playoffs his whole career just to go to a 4th team and rebuild again is not what he wants.

And I don’t see why he would risk injury not signing long-term right now coming off All-Star, All-NBA and MIP. Lightning won’t strike twice for him.

The guy who created PER and Game Score, used to work for the Grizzlies, writes for the Athletic now.
As for why he would risk injury, there’s like another hundred million on the line if he can wait a year. Lightning didn’t really strike once for him as far as his contract, his performance would be way underpaid if he signed this off-season. He’s giving the team excess value now, he could be fine with continuing to do so going forward, but this might be his shot to cash out. He’s gonna be 27 this time next year. And the deal he’s on now isn’t huge, but it’s definitely some insurance against just taking whatever deal is offered.

Raptors coach Nick Nurse is being sued by his former agency for breach of contract.

I'm no lawyer, but from some of the lines I read, sounds like they had some sort of oral agreement and that's what they're suing him over. And also saying he didnt disclose how much he signed his deal for with the Raptors so they couldn't determine how much they were supposed to be paid from him.

I mean, if they're his agent, isn't negotiating a deal and knowing how much your client is getting kind of the main part of your job?

Came into the league same year as LeBron and played until 2015.

              Cliffnotes:

              - 76ers have officially begun trade talks around Simmons and are looking for an all star caliber player in return. Interest in Simmons around the league is "robust".

              - It's believed that John Collins may get a max offer in free agency, with Miami, Minnesota, Dallas, and San Antonio expected to pursure him. Those teams think Atlanta may let him walk rather than matching.

              - The Knicks are aggressively pursuing Collin Sexton.

              - Houston is aggressively trying to trade up to #1 and are separately trying to find a trade for Eric Gordon.

              - Chicago and the Clippers are expected to pursue Lonzo Ball and New Orleans will likely let him leave if he receives a significant offer.

Just please don’t let this end with us taking back Kevin Love.

Dawg, I can’t stop laughing my *** off at that gif. 2K physics looking crazy from my man lmao

Not sure why Miami would be interested in Collins considering they just locked up Bam to an extension. That’d be a lot of money tied up in that front court it would seem like.

All seems very likely. Hoping for a Philly trade that maximizes Joel's prime window.

With the draft in 2 weeks, likely start seeing some of the trades on Draft week. I don't see Collins or Ball being matched but can see them being overpaid

                      Sign me up for Sexton.

Knicks garbage + the 21st pick and a future 2nd.

Lakers also rumored to be in the Sexton mix.. They are basically the only team where it makes some sense for them to take back Love to facilitate the trade.. Problem is if Trez or Schroder, maybe even Caruso/THT aren't down for a S&T then a deal isn't possible. If Cleveland wants off the Love contract bad enough to move Sexton I can't imagine they'd want to pay Schroder the money he's wanting either.

$170m for Sexton is not something I want to see the Knicks do, forget about what it'd cost to acquire him. He's a 6'1 SG. He's not the answer to our eternal problems at the point. There are reasons A) CLE doesn't want to extend him B) there aren't suitors around the league knocking down CLE's door with offers. I'd rather sign Lonzo in free agency but I guess we could theoretically do both.

Sexton/Barrett/Randle. Not exactly a great fit together. Not exactly ideal secondary guys to put around a top-flight star.

He’s restricted so they don’t have to offer him that. They could test the fit for the year before we have to pay him, Randle, potentially Mitch, and if it doesn’t work out, sign and trade him next year or just let him walk. If it doesn’t pan out, and we’ve lost Knox, Obi, and a mid first rounder because of it…whatever. Paying Randle is the day of reckoning, we need to see what we have in the meantime. Collin’s salary is low this season so we should still have some room to sign someone next off-season if we think this is the way. If not, could still get out relatively unscathed if we play it all right. Feels win win to me.

I'd ask myself if Sexton would give us more next season than Toppin, Knox and a mid-round pick. That's a clear yes.
