Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
It just amazes me that for a league that prides itself on player movement/empowerment/promoting super teams and treating Day 1 of FA like it’s Game 1 of the Finals that they’re so pressed over issues like this.
Idk they don’t just let players be able to talk to other teams as soon as their season ends, if they’re in a contract year. Like what is the logical purpose of making them wait until FA officially starts before saying “Ok, NOW you can talk to other teams officially”?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
How are the Lakers any different than every single other team that also wasn’t hit with tampering? They signed free agents, the entire issue around these two situations specifically is that they were S&T moves.
You realize you’re wasting your time right? lol the reasons and the why and the justification here isn’t going to matter and never does.
Indeed the rules are stupid though.

I’m assuming the idea behind it was to give teams the better chance of retaining their own guys. We hear it every year how it needs to be easier for smaller markets and all that. But regardless, it’s still silly. These dudes can text, call, meet whoever they want. It’s not like the league is going to start checking their text logs lol.

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
Woj could write a story about how Jokic and Luka spent the entire summer together calling free agents and plotting to team up in the middle of the year...but unless any of that talk is substantiated by the players....there's absolutely nothing the NBA can do...can't fine them off hearsay.
You can fine Dray for saying Book should leave PHX on national TV, but not because he supposedly called KD after Game 7 of the Finals from his car.
A team or agent leaving a paper trail of contacting a player before the allowed date, is different.
Don't love the tampering rules, but I see the difference between the two situations.

2021 Offseason Thread
Lol so we’re gonna get bent out of shape cause the Lakers were the example used? Seriously? We gotta go through and list every instance of player tampering ever except the Lakers so nobody gets butt hurt that they got mentioned? The Lakers are literally the most recent example and from the same *** **** free agency period that’s why they were mentioned. That’s it. Who gives a **** about Draymond calling KD in his car 4 ****ing years ago when the league is launching an investigation on 2 teams for their free agent transaction this week while ignoring another that happened during the same period. Sure you could deem it hearsay and not actually punish a player if he doesn’t say something on national television but you could certainly at least launch a damn investigation when you see a player had a damn meeting at another players house to discuss strategy as teammates while one of them plays for another team.
If you announce no tampering because you couldn’t prove it then fine whatever but to blatantly ignore it while investigating 2 teams based on hearsay since the Bulls, Wizards, Heat or Raptors didn’t come out saying they were working on a sign and trade for these players. Etc. It’s ridiculous. All my point was that the rules are stupid and if you agree with that, why are we even getting caught up in examples used? Jfc

Marc Stein:
It is difficult to envision the NBA invalidating Miami's sign-and-trade deal for Kyle Lowry or Chicago's expected acquisition of Lonzo Ball, but the penalties for wrongdoing -- if proven -- would have to be much stiffer than what Milwaukee faced in the Bogdan Bogdanovic case.
This is not the tampering that truly damages teams ... like Team X pursuing a player during the season months before free agency.
But the NBA said in Sept. 2019 that crackdowns were coming and has to follow through.Comment

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
Not everything is some kind of veiled LeBron discussion, What are we talking about?
Draymond (to my knowledge) has been the only player ever fined for tampering...so he was the parallel used....not because I hate the Green family or any other reason.. Damn, lol

So do you just not read OJs and only scan mine for the words LeBron and Lakers so you can chime in against whatever I say or how does that work?
Not some kind of veiled LeBron discussion despite the fact OJ clearly came in as super-save-a-ho implying that a civil discussion that didn’t even involve him was about just hating on the Lakers/LeBron. But again. Okay whatever y’all have a good day

Re: 2021 Offseason Thread
Tone is hard on the internet I know, but I’m trying to figure what I ever did/said to make you think I was doing anything. He just said “what about the Lakers” like the Lakers did something that all the other teams didn’t do.
Obviously these two moves specifically being singled out are because of S&T, just like the Bucks last year. So trying to randomly bring up the Lakers, or any team really, who didn’t have a S&T in place before free agency started didn’t really make sense.
We don’t even know that the teams did anything wrong or are going to get any sort of penalties yet. Or that they are even the only 2 that will be investigated.
Regardless idk where I came off sounding like I was worked up or upset about any of it.
