    Re: NBA Off Topic Thread

This all took a weird turn. I have no idea how Ja grew up (or 99.9% of NBA players for that matter) and honestly don’t care. He’s a 23 year old millionaire now, he’s a role model, he should know better. Plenty of privileged kids end up being ****s, tons of kids growing up on bad circumstances end up doing amazing things. I have no idea how much of this is him being “fake hood” or whatever people are trying to label it as or if it’s just him being “real”. It doesn’t matter at this point because he’s not currently a teenager living in whatever circumstances anymore. Whether it’s who he is or he’s playing pretend he’s getting himself into situations he shouldn’t be in regardless. He’s in the .0001% of the population who can do whatever he wants in life and he’s choosing things he shouldn’t.

None of the stuff so far is THAT serious unless the pointing a gun at Pacers players is true, so hopefully this is the worst of it all/speculation/exaggeration and he just makes better choices going forward.

I'm questioning whether toting around a pistol and threatening people is something he feels he has to do because of the environment he came up in, or is it something he chose to do because he thinks he wants that lifestyle?

First off, EYE didn’t call you or your post ignorant, I said the “thought process” was/is ignorant/stereotypical and it is.

      Here’s what I asked:

Do you honestly not see how people like me, King, 24 and could interpret that?

The wild part about this is NONE of us knows how he grew up/raised. Hell, this was originally a joke after Warriors Twitter last year posted a picture of him in a Polo Shirt when he was younger, folks ran with that and automatically assumed he grew up “privileged”, lol.

And nobody is accusing you of questioning his blackness man, which is a completely different subject than what we’re talking about anyway, lol.

As for him carrying a gun, I don’t know and don’t care to know because I’m sure he has his reasons, just like every other person that is holding.

But yeah, I’m not gonna DM you because we’ve had convos like this before on here and they’ve always ended on good terms. This one is no different.

Yeah that one is on me probably. My post wasn't clear when I said ignorant that I meant same as you in the thought process and not calling him ignorant. So I'll take the blame for that one

No, I do. Thats why I added that disclaimer about coming close. Because the majority of time that is what its about. Like I've seen comments from Celtics fans on Twitter talking about they glad to be Celtics fans because their stars are so "well spoken" and we know exactly what thats about.

There an understandable amount of skepticism when a white dude starts speaking on certain subjects, and then when that white dude says "it has nothing to do with race" its like aw hell here we go lol.

On the load management/player health tip, I just saw Paul George's comments on why he thinks players get hurt just as much now even as before. PG said he thinks teams not practicing hard or as much as they used to could be a part of it. I had never considered that angle but it does make sense.

I could see that. I know Sixers only really practice practice when they have multiple days off in a row or between home games. But, I think this year with the different travel schedule, it allowed more practice days. There were a lot more 2-3 off day in between games stretches this year.

Not sure. I know it's been 4 preseason games the last couple years. I want to say the main change this season was how they changed the travel. So far, I don't mind the way the scheduled games to reduce travel. My only somewhat complaint is how either you can be finished facing a team early in a season or not face a team until late in a season. Like the Sixers just faced the Heat on a home and home for the first time this season this past week. I would like them to find a way to spread out the matchups.

I'm still for adding a week up to 10 days more into the season, if it can reduce back to backs. Teams had 12-15 back to backs this season. Sixers had 6 before January and most of them in March. If they could get that number down from 12-15 to 8-10, I think that could help. You'll stay have scheduled rest days, but less load management days because of B2Bs. I think that would help

In general the obsession with maximizing rest I think is to blame for a lot of it. I think we see that with baseball pitchers too.

Are players getting hurt at the same rate?

I guess thats the obvious question.
