Just finished Blood in the Garden, now I'm sitting here watching Game 5 of the 1999 1st round, us vs. the Heat. Losing team scores in the series: 75, 73, 73, 72, 77. Game 5 of both our first round and the Finals ended with the scores 78-77. Hideous basketball. This can't be what people clamor for a return to. Infinite jump hooks, negative spacing, 3 point territory outside of the corner might as well be lava. Dan Majerle just hit a 3 from 3 feet behind the 3 point line, bro looks like Steph out there compared to some of these guys.

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Those Heat teams were dull as hell, and even back then I knew what boring basketball was because of them. Somehow with personalities like Mourning and Hardaway and Showtime Pat Riley, in the city of Miami, that **** was anti-entertainment.
But to be fair, is anyone interested in rewatching any of those full Bulls/Jazz Finals games either?Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
I actually enjoy watching some 90’s ball, but that late 90’s/early ‘00 time frame was particularly rough at times, lol
Everyone has their own taste but I think if a lot of people really sat down and watched some of those games, the realization that it’s not 48 minutes of those same 10-15 flagrant fouls you see on social media mixtapes would set it real quick.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Moved on to 94 Finals G7, watching Pat shooting fade aways damn near with one foot on the ground because he can’t out jump Hakeem. How many non-Bulls teams from the 90s are making the GOAT teams list if we go down to like 25? I never rated this era just because we were Patrick and Company and somehow one of the “best” teams in the decade. Starks is top 10 for me, and I love Mase, but this team was not good lol. It makes me look at the whole era like they’re scrubs. Is there such thing as too much parity?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
The amount of ISOs and guys dribbling the air out of the ball before shooting with 2 seconds left on the Shot Clock are this generations 90s Hook Shots.
Both of those possessions are just as ugly.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
While that may be true, especially in more extreme James Harden cases, teams actually use quite a bit less of the clock now. I would assume there is quite a bit less isolation now too but have nothing to back that up.
Happens at different spots on the floor and teams now are far more perimeter star centric, but late 90s isolations were so bad that pretty much an entire side of the floor was isolated. You had chunks of teams deliberately move 2 sometimes 3 players to one side of the floor just to get them out of the way and cut the court in half just so they could isolate. It was just often isolation in the post.Comment

That happens now even without Harden [emoji23]although not as extreme.
To me, situationally they’re not much different other than the locations on the court. And that a 3 is more exciting than a jump hook so we’ll tolerate that a little bit more.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 06-29-2022, 07:17 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

I wish Spree would’ve been trying to sauce dudes up instead of backing down and shooting a turn around fadeaway, would’ve been much more entertaining.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Nah, that slow paced early 2000’s iso ball was definitely somethin’ different…lol

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
So apparently the Clippers and Trail Blazers will be playing a pre-season game in Seattle in 2022.
Why the league teasing them like that? Just put a team there already.Comment

I remember when they used to have preseason games at the pyramid in Memphis back before Memphis got the Grizz. I had no idea a team was eventually going to relocate to Memphis though.Comment

@crypticjordan
Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic Thread
Yes. I remember one off season wanting to go back and watch some 90s playoff ball.
I went with Magic/Bulls because Penny was my favorite back then
Man...Post up. Reset. Post up. Double. Kick it out. Long two. Rinse and repeat with the other possessions ending with a fade away or jump hook [emoji23]
But like y'all said, I guess the repetition isn't that much better today. The action just takes place at a different area of the court. LolComment

Also NBA: We're hosting a game in Seattle.
When they do expand, Seattle is 100% part of that group.Comment
