Basically playing the race card here. I don't think I've ever heard someone list a negative reason for playing in Toronto being because of race/lack of diversity/equality. Especially for an organization headed by Masai Ujiri, and we know all the things he's done outside of the NBA. There's just 0 reason to be claiming that, especially about a city which is known for being the exact opposite of his claim

Ridiculous and wrong but not surprised considering who those comments are coming from.

It’s wild how we pretty much live in a time where people are allowed to go on TV and just make things up about a player/city just to create a narrative and people just accept it for whatever reason(mainly because it already fits whatever preconceived notion they already had about it).

Speaking strictly about Sports in this case.

That's also true for so many topics. And the media has so much power and influence too that people will genuinely believe it all.

The amount of preconceived notions about players or cities simply because of people in the media is crazy.

A city might be viewed as lesser because some guys trash it using fake facts and stereotypes. Or a players worth goes down because you'll hear him picked apart by some talking head.

Don't know why more players don't play in Toronto. It's a nice city and the NBA's best kept secret. It's kinda like New York/Chicago. Guys could play out there in peace as the media (American media) wouldn't bother them as much and still enjoy playing in a big market.

If I were in the NBA I'd love playing in Toronto. Only negative would be the cold but the entire central division plays in some pretty cold places and Minnesota is also pretty cold too. Just wear a coat not a big deal.

The funny thing, Toronto probably gets less snow (I'm guessing, but it seems that way based on what I see in the news) than a NY, Washington and so on.

Yes, people think winter in Canada is just igloos and all that, but winters in Toronto really isn't much different than a winter in NY, Chicago, Detroit and so on, in terms of temperature and amount of snow. And most of these guys are just being driven from place to place anyways. Cars have heat, heated seats, heated steering wheels, you name it. If anything, its easier to dress for cold than heat, because you just wear layers to stay warm, whereas you can only wear so little and still be hot in the heat.

And with technology nowadays, everything is simplified. Driving a car and can't get adjusted to KM? Cars can change between miles and KM (I think they can show both at once).

Don't have ESPN or TNT? Canadian networks air stuff live from those networks, or just get a VPN (something if you don't know about, you could easily just ask the team to help and they'll get you set up).

I believe it’s a lot deeper than just the surface level stuff y’all are mentioning as for why Black Americans don’t care to live in Canada.

Everyone is different obviously but I don’t think y’all should take it as a personal offense whenever someone says they don’t want to live in Canada.

I've been to Toronto twice as I have a childhood friend and expat who lives in North York. It's a wonderful city. Diversity and culture and a nice mix skyscrapers downtown and more neighborhoody "outer boroughs". It's the only city I've been to that has something similar to an NYC vibe in terms of the skyline and canyon-like highways driving past endless tall buildings. The street festivals are a good time and the food scene is top-notch.

I would probably elect to live in Toronto over nearly any American city, but I like winter.

Toronto is definitely in my top 3 as far as city’s I’ve visited. I got a chance to go to Afrofest when I was there and it was a really cool experience.

                              I think Broussard united people.

A number of guys (of course some Canadian) responding to his comments.

Even Richard Jefferson spoke up about those comments.

Clearly a bad take from Broussard, and some current and former players are letting him have it.

I went there for Caribana in 2015. Had an amazing time there.

Now would I care to live there or anywhere in Canada? Not at all and that’s ok. Canada and to a lesser extent, Toronto, isn’t for everyone just like I’m sure Canadians feel that way about America, especially now and in a few years, lol.

I just know from living in DC for most of my life and now in Atlanta, it just some things that I know Canada for be able to provide or do for a brother like a me, lol.
